POSITION SUMMARY:

This is a Sales and Marketing position responsible for achieving increased sales from Program Sales (Multi-Unit) Account, Local Contract, and Bid customers through penetration of current business as well as gaining new customers. The Program Sales Director is also responsible for overseeing and developing the Healthcare and Program Sales Manager (s), the Program Sales Administrative Assistant, and the Account Executives so that department goals are achieved.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support and communicates company goals to assure Sales Plan and Profitability.
  • Manages FTZ (Free Trade Zone) and USDA inspections.
  • Develop annual target list of MUA prospects.
  • Train the Account Coordinators, Account Executives, and the Program Sales Manager to develop prospects into customer sales.
  • Identify needs of prospects and incorporate meeting those needs in prime Vendor service packages to secure new business utilizing expertise in business.
  • Determine sales goals for Specialists, Account Executives, and Program Sales Managers and coach each so that sales goals are achieved.
  • Develop rapport with customers so that needs can be assessed and services are implemented with the results of customer retention as well as growth.
  • Utilize knowledge and expertise to develop and manage unique product inventory.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationship with fellow associates at local Operating Company as well as corporate level to assure service and sales goals are met.
  • Develop Managers in the management of account receivables.
  • Train Program Account Coordinator to complete daily support tasks that ensure customer satisfaction which result in account retention and increased sales.

  • Directly supervise employees in the Program Sales department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university required; 7 years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Maintain a valid Driver License with a driving record that meets Company minimum standards.
  • Maintain current automobile insurance with the following limits Bodily injury $100,000 each person and $300,000 each accident; property damage of $100,000.
  • Sign a Sysco Protective Covenants Agreement.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ServSafe Certificate
  • Healthcare, Education Multi Unit Foodservice experience

Professional Skills:

  • Demonstrates mastery of skills in the area of consultative selling, prospecting, networking, coaching and negotiations
  • Ability to effectively coach, counsel, train and direct associates
  • Demonstrates working knowledge of general finance terminology/concepts and credit terms
  • Ability to supervise and motivate others
  • Ability to strategically plan and execute through the actions of others
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general sales reports
  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence
  • A working knowledge of product lines, ordering procedures and credit terms of Sysco, preferred
  • Familiarization with customer service activities, interdepartmental communications and general finance concepts beneficial
  • Working knowledge of food service sales and merchandising principles, food sales industry, street/territory and program sales, and product lines sold by Sysco
  • Familiarity of local industry trends and issues in the food service industry
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
  • Ability to learn the use of proprietary CRM tools for planning and forecasting sales growth
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, portion cost, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, including the ability to execute multiple initiatives autonomously
  • Ability to express information in terms of profit and loss, food cost and expense ratio
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Spreadsheet and Word Processing software
  • Ability to acquire functional knowledge of a variety of computer programs
  • Ability to successfully engage and lead individual and team discussions and meetings.
  • Ability to apply all relevant policies in a consistent, timely and objective manner
  • Capable of working with peers and associates from other departments and shifts in a proactive and constructive manner
  • Understanding of Sysco’s key business metrics, preferred
  • Ability to handle multiple jobs, timelines and deadlines
  • Ability to prioritize, multi task, and shift priorities as necessary

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk and use hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and telephone to talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
  • This position will require regular travel via a personal automobile which may result in long periods of sitting.
