Diesel Technician/Mechanic Position

Seasoned Heavy Truck Diesel Technicians/Mechanics are needed to perform the following maintenance duties on a Fleet of Extensive Diesel Engine Heavy Trucks for our client in Conklin, NY:

Diesel Technician/Mechanic Position Job Description:

• Remove, replace or adjust the following with some supervision: Brakes (air and hydraulic), Fifth wheel, Minor electrical repairs, Cab components and accessories, Minor trailer maintenance such as doors, wheel seals etc
• Perform all aspects of preventive maintenance on vehicles as trained
• Perform other mechanical repairs and replacements as directed/assisted by Technician I, II,
• Lead Technician or Supervisor as part of overall training
• All customer service duties as necessary
• Maintain work area appearance and safety
• Use hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges, and precision instruments, as well as power tools such as pneumatic wrenches, welding equipment, and jacks and hoists.
• Perform routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and machinery.
• Adjust and replace brakes, tighten bolts and screws, and reassemble equipment.
• Raise trucks, buses, and heavy parts or equipment using hydraulic jacks or hoists
• Other duties and tasks as assigned by supervisor

Diesel Technician/Mechanic Position Primary Duties:

• Preventative Maintenance
• Oil changes
• Air/hydraulic brakes
• Suspensions
• Transmissions
• General Maintenance

Qualified Candidates For Diesel Technician/Mechanic Position Will Have The Following Education/Experience:

• 3+ years of practical heavy duty diesel maintenance experience is required.
• A valid CDL is preferred.
• Vocational/Technical or Certification preferred.
• Basic computer skills preferred.
• Must provide a basic set of tools.
• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Must possess a valid clear driver's license.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Trade school, mechanical course, or equivalent highly desired.

Working Conditions:

Shop, office, yard, vehicle environment, may require lifting of 20 to 50 lbs., at least once a day.
