Diesel Technician/Mechanic Position

Experienced A Level Diesel Technicians/Mechanics are needed to perform maintenance work on a Fleet of Extensive Diesel Engine Transit Buses and Equipment for our client Englewood, CO. 

Diesel Technician/Mechanic Position Job Description:

  • Adjust and reline air and hydraulic brakes, align wheels, tighten bolts and screws, and reassemble equipment.
  • Align front ends (where applicable) and service suspension systems.
  • Attach test instruments to equipment, and read dials and gauges in order to diagnose malfunctions.
  • Must be qualified to disassemble and overhaul internal combustion engines, pumps, generators, transmissions, clutches, and differential units.
  • Examine and adjust protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices.
  • Inspect brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other important parts to ensure that they are in proper operating condition.
  • Inspect, repair, and maintain automotive and mechanical equipment and machinery such aspumps and compressors.
  • Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using test instruments such as handheld computers, motor analyzers, chassis charts, and pressure gauges.
  • Operate valve-grinding machines to grind and reset valves (where applicable).
  • Perform routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and machinery.
  • Must be qualified to install or rebuild diesel engines.
  • Repair and adjust seats, doors, and windows, and install and repair accessories.
  • Rewire ignition systems, lights, and instrument panels. Able to work on multiplex systems
  • Inspect and verify dimensions and clearances of parts to ensure conformance to factory specifications.
  • Must be qualified to repair and maintain parts of the engine, such as fuel injection systems.
  • Test drive trucks and buses to diagnose malfunctions or to ensure that they are working properly. Have appropriate drivers license for facilities needs or the ability to obtain one.
  • Other duties as directed and or assigned, to include and to ensure the safe operation and efficiency of the department 
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Qualified Candidates For Diesel Technician/Mechanic Position Will Have The Following Education/Experience:

  • A Level Requirements:
    • 5+ years of experience is required.
    • Must be able to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair the most difficult of all vehicle and equipment service.
    • Must be able to educate Mechanics B and C, as time permits, more complex techniques.
    • Must possess a valid CDL with air brake and passenger endorsement OR Have the ability and willingness to obtain one(Essentially a Class B CDL (P2) is what we are looking for).
    • A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
    • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • B Level Requirements:
    • 3+ years of experience is required; Must be able to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair all vehicles and equipment in service with minima supervision.
    • Must be able to educate C Level Mechanics, as time permits, some repair techniques that are not routine in nature.
    • Must demonstrate mechanical proficiency and mentoring capabilities.
    • Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
    • Must possess a valid CDL with air brake and passenger endorsement OR Have the ability and willingness to obtain one(Essentially a Class B CDL (P2) is what we are looking for).
    • A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
    • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Trade school, mechanical course, or equivalent highly desired.

Working Conditions:

Shop, office, yard, vehicle environment, may require lifting of 20 to 50 lbs., at least once a day.
