Customer Assistant

Provides prompt and courteous customer service.  Assists other team members in striving to maximize sales. Performs clerical and maintenance duties insuring efficient operations and attractive store appearance.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assists customers in a prompt, courteous manner. Informs customers of specials, new products and offers suggestions. Answers questions and resolves complaints.
• Monitors gas pumps and assists with pumping gas as needed.
• Operates cash register and various machines such as credit card, money order, lottery, calculator etc.
• Keeps accurate shift totals of sales, cash and inventory. Balances individual shift activity to readings and prepares bank deposits. Counts cigarettes, tracks waste, and checks temperatures as required under Acorn policies.
• May take orders and prepare foodservice items such as coffee, sandwiches, and fast food items to company specification and health standards.
• Cleans and maintains internal and external store facilities and equipment to provide a pleasant, safe area for customers and employees. Reviews condition of rest room and maintains restroom checklist.
• Stock shelves, coolers, and freezers. Merchandises shelves to insure product is faced and fronted and clean. Checks items for pricing and valid expiration dates.
• Communicates professionally and effectively with other team members to facilitate teamwork and customer service. Maintains frequent communication with supervisor on customers, operations and equipment maintenance.
• Adheres to all state age laws in regards to merchandise sales, particularly tobacco products and alcoholic beverages.
• Position requires lifting, standing for extended periods, the ability to make change, and work with various computer keyboards or touch screens.
• Performs additional duties as required.
