Moms go to school, too

Don’t forget to make time for yourself. When you’ve got kids, school and all of life’s other chores to tend to, it’s easy to forget about yourself. When you’re extra busy, it’s more important than ever to indulge in the things that make you happy. Not only will it make you feel relaxed, it will help you to feel less stressed, making everything else in life a little easier to manage. Take an hour to read your favorite magazine, have lunch with a few girlfriends or spring for a massage. A well-planned schedule should allow for little indulgences along with everything else you’ve got going on.

With all the time you might devote to your school work, you may start to feel guilty about taking time away from your family, but you shouldn’t. Whatever is driving your choice to pursue a college degree is important, both to you and to your family, even if they don’t know it yet. Your good study habits will serve as a great positive influence on your kids, no matter what their age, and when you graduate and land a great job, everyone will reap the rewards your degree will bring. If guilt does get to you, consider an online degree program. You’ll still need to take time to read class lecture notes and complete assignments, but you’ll be able to do it from home on a more flexible schedule.

Finally, always keep in mind what you’re working for. We all want the best jobs we can get to make great lives for ourselves and our families, and while sometimes it might feel like a delicate balancing act to go to school with kids at home, in the end, it will be well worth your time and effort.
