There is a lot of buzz surrounding online degree programs these days, and for good reason. Their flexibility makes them incredibly convenient for parents, people working full time, and anyone who wants to get an education on their own schedule. Choosing an online program can be tough, so we’ve outlined some of the most popular online degrees.
Business degrees
One of the most popular online business degrees is the online master of business administration, or MBA. While some on-campus programs require two years of full-time study, online MBA programs provide a bit more flexibility. At the Keller Graduate School of Management, students can study part-time or full-time, working the program into their schedule as it’s most convenient. At Keller and the University of Wisconsin - Whitewater, students can study entirely online or through a combination of online and on-campus programs. Other schools, such as Florida Tech University, offer MBA programs that are completed entirely online. As an MBA candidate, you’ll want to consider the various types of MBA programs and decide which one is the best-fit for your schedule.
Healthcare degrees
Many registered nurses (RNs) are earning their Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) online through accelerated degree programs that allow them to apply the hands-on training they received for their RN licensure toward a bachelor’s degree. Because nurses sometimes work while the rest of the world has already clocked out, these programs are much more flexible than traditional schools, and help nurses receive their degree in less time. Whether you’re taking a few online classes as part of a campus program or studying entirely online, the most important thing to consider is accreditation. The two major national accrediting bodies for nursing programs are the National League of Nursing Accrediting Commission and the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. Be sure to check out these sites, because no matter how high your scores are, if your degree isn’t legit, your licensure may be in seriously jeopardy.
