The "kiss-up" and "slacker" tie for most annoying co-worker
SnagAJob.com survey finds workers don't want to work with eitherRICHMOND, Va., Sept. 18, 2007 – Who's worse, the sycophantic brownnoser who is constantly currying favor with the boss or the lazy goldbrick who shuns any assignment that comes his way?
Answer: they both are.
According to an online survey sponsored by SnagAJob.com, the largest online provider of hourly jobs, the "slacker" and the "kiss-up" tied for the most annoying coworker, each garnering close to one-third (32.6%) of the total vote.
More than 7,000 people responded in less than two weeks (no slackers here) to the question: "who's the most annoying coworker?"
According to the rumor mill (and confirmed by the actual results), the "gossip hound" came in third with 18.4 percent followed by the sonorous tones of the "loud-talker" with 11.8 percent of the vote. Coming in last was the "hypochondriac" with 4.6 percent -- no doctor's note needed.
"Work should be fun and as this survey makes clear, it's not fun being surrounded by Eddie Haskells and George Costanzas," said Shawn Boyer, founder and chief executive officer of SnagAJob.com. "Either one can hurt your company's culture and bring down morale."
