“I have applied to countless jobs via this website, have had many job offers, and when it comes down to it I always have to say no to someone. I really think it has to do with which companies you apply to. Larger corporations are more likely to stockpile your applications and you may never get a call. So keep applying even when you think you had a good interview because it is always better to turn down an offer than be left without one. When it all comes down to it the more ‘no's’ or no calls you get the closer you are to getting that ‘yes.’”
Great advice, Jazimyne! You may think a job interview went amazingly and are waiting for the offer, but someone else may have interviewed for the same position with a little more experience, or with some qualities you may be lacking. You can never know with absolute certainty if you will be offered the position, at least not until your phone rings with news that will make your day.
By sitting around and waiting on a job that you may or may not get, you are wasting precious time and may be missing the job out there that is perfect for you! It is always better to apply for too many than too few positions.

OK.
Snagajob still sucks for jobs though.
I’m sorry you feel that way! Is there something I can help you with?

I’ve applied to numerous places, including hosptial cafeterias. I don’t have experience in the food services, but I’m willing to learn. I’m open to learning something new. My heart is set on working in retail, but I’m keeping my options open. Snagajob has helped me with the great advice they provide on these blogs.

i have applied for numerous jobs online, & thru ‘snag-a-job’. i think i have an unique situation that may be contributing to my not getting offers. i havent found an article here that comes close to my situation. i am an LPN, current license, current CPR, but i am in my late 50′s & just recently divorced, i have a back problem that prevents me from standing for long periods of time & bending, twisting, pushing & pulling things is not an option. i am taking an online course for Medical Administrative Assistant & hoping this will open new doors for me to be able to stay in the medical field in some capacity. thru no fault of my own, while still married but going thru divorce had to file bankruptcy. i’ve been reading & hearing on tv that employers check credit histories. so with all this working against me , i’m wondering if i will ever get a job. some people have said i should just go on ‘disability’, but thats not what i want to do. i would rather work. with all my ‘issues’, financial & health related, things do not look rosey from my perspective. i would like some advice on what i can do to make myself look more attractive to prospective employers.
Hi Denise-
The good news is that while employers DO often check credit histories of candidates, they won’t do so without your express consent and won’t do so until you’re deep in the hiring process – which means you’ll have time to address your financial situation with the employer before they check your credit. (And although it’s not talked about very often, so many people file for bankruptcy that employers are not shocked to hear it.) It sounds from your other comments that you’re on the right track in terms of investigating alternate careers for nurses – in addition to medical assisting, there are lots of other ways you could use your skills without the physical strain usually associated with nursing – medical transcription, medical coding, training / education, and regulatory compliance all come to mind as alternate options where your background could really be an asset! Good luck to you!
have you tryd these web sites…they might help findtherightjog.com or jobs.volt.com or jobs2careers.com or Jobrapido.com ? they may help you. i get alert e-mails everytime theres a new job opening in my area and in my field of work, and i get new emails one to two everyday to every other day…thats alot, plus you can get whos hiring in ANY line of work at the same time. Also one of these ones,i think its the volt one or jobs2careers, you make out your profile with ur work history and ur resume and whatever else info they want(its pretty easy to fill out)THEY e-mail your info and resume to all hireing companies in what field ur looking in,for you. So you can fill it all out and with in a couple of days a job may call or e-mail you for an interview.I STRONGLY SUGGEST ANYONE LOOKING FOR A JOB, GO TO THESE WEB SITES…they r very helpfull!!!!!they also have links to other places for help and resources.
Due to the demanding rise in the job market, anyone should be able to acquire a job with or without experience or educational backing however because employers are so discriminating, hiding behind the mask of “EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER” it makes employment harder to acquire. I went through a period of homelessness and worked for a Shelter as a Security Assistant Shift Leader and held two other Supervisory positions with the same company, so figuring on possibly attaining a opportunity to work in Bail Enforcement or being a Private Detective I am attending college for a BA in Law Enforcement Administration. My resume is not that impressive because I could not hold a job in one field for longer than two years and so I am continuously trying to find ways to improve my chances of getting a job. If anyone could advice me on what to do to improve my chances please do so and I will email a copy of my resume to them to evaluate.
Do you still have the link to ‘what to say if you’ve been fired’ ?
I wanted to know what type of jobs you should apply for if you haven’t got a lot of work experience? Thanks!
Hi Krystle! Think about what you like to do and go from there. If you enjoy reading, look into book stores and libraries. If cooking is your thing, think about restaurants. You may start at the bottom but can work your way up
.
Try these ones… findtherightjob.com or jobs.volt.com or jobs2careers.com or Jobrapido.com I get job alerts from findtherightjob.com for my line of work and IN MY AREA…so i get a few e-mails a week.AND you can look for ANY kind of job on this one. One of these actully takes your resume and/or makes one up for you if you dont have one,and your application, well, you make a profile with your contact info, schooling, your resume, basicly everything you would give a hireing company and e-mail them to ALL companys in your line of work or anything close to ur line of work.It also shows you ALL HIREING JOBS! So try all of them and I HOPE this HELPS GOODLUCK FELLOW JOB SEEKERS!
