About Ben

Originally from Harrisburg, Penn., Ben is currently a junior at Belmont University in Nashville, Tenn. A singer, songwriter and guitarist, he shares his music at a variety of gigs, such as weddings, correctional institutes, festivals, backyard picnics and more.

"I am from a small town in central Pennsylvania and grew up with two older brothers who loved country music. I love the stories in the songs, the originality in country music entertainers and the energy coming from every guitar. I began playing guitar at age six and love performing live.”

Ben just finished his first album where he plays acoustic guitar, electric guitar, six-string banjo and mandolin on the self-titled record. He was recently awarded Pennsylvania's "Arpeggio" award, which is given to an entertainer who is a role model for youth in the arts statewide.

Ben works an hourly job as a landscaper, where you can find him mowing, mulching, trimming, snow removing and landscape designing.

When he's not singing, writing, playing, studying or mowing lawns, you'll find the 20-year-old Eagle Scout fishing or hunting.

Congratulations, Ben! We are looking forward to you opening for country music star Brantley Gilbert on Sept. 19, in Richmond, Va. at the Snagajob Pavilion!

Thanks to everyone who entered The Hourly Gig! We were all blown away by all of the talent. Be sure to check out our five finalists.

I love to sing singing is my dream. My inspire is Beyonce.I love her because she shows the prospect life in an African American. As being a 14 year old I have lots of talent .My first video I posted on YouTube was when I was 12 years old.I have had a huge vocal change since then. To be a 14 year old I have the voice of a 22 year old.

    Hey Kim,
I know you’ve probably gotten this from a thousand others before me, but I just want to thank you guys for the opportunity. Whether I get chosen or not, atleast I was given a chance. I am more of a lyricist than a singer, but hey, such opportunities don’t come often. Thank you guys/gals.
P.S. I have never done anything like this before, is the waiting always so nerve racking? :)

I entered the contest already, but here’s my video for those of you on the message board! I’m a twenty-five year old song-writer from Alabama. This is my first ever attempt at a webcam video submission, as I spend most of my time writing/performing and recording in my home studio. Hope you like my song, The Waitress’ Blues. :)
