We got a great shout out from Stacy on Twitter and just had to get in touch for more info – here’s what she said:
“My name is Stacy, and this is my story about how Snagajob saved me!
The first job I had ever had was working as a cashier, simple, just something to get me through high school. I ended up working there for about 3 years, and I was so good at my job! So when I suddenly got fired, I didn’t know what I would do. Here I am, in college, and I no longer have a job!
It was a Friday afternoon, my boyfriend told me about SnagAJob.com so I decided to try it. That Tuesday, I made a profile and filled out 5 or 6 applications. I then said to myself, ‘Now all I have to do is wait.’
I woke up THE NEXT MORNING with a missed call and a voice mail. It was Cracker Barrel, one of the companies I had applied to! I couldn’t believe it! They said they looked over my application from Snagajob and wanted to bring me in for an interview THAT DAY! So I went in for the interview and they offered me a job ON THE SPOT and my first day for orientation was to be Friday!
Thanks to Snagajob I was jobless for only a week! It was like taking a vacation! I even had another company, The Boston Market, call me about a week later asking if I was interested in coming in for an interview! I was absolutely amazed. Thank you so much Snagajob!!!”
Thank YOU, Stacy, for using Snagajob and for sharing your success story! Here are some things to note from Stacy’s story that might help you with your own job search:
What helped Stacy get hired?
Her work history was exceptional.
Even though she was fired from her last position, she had been employed at that company for three years. That kind of company loyalty will get you noticed by employers because it demonstrates you’re not a job hopper. In addition, we’re willing to bet her job applications didn’t have errors. Hiring managers typically dismiss candidates who have spelling and grammar errors in their applications. Lastly, based on the email we’ve sent back and forth and what we’ve seen of her on Twitter, we’re guessing that Stacy is totally awesome.
What could have kept Stacy from getting hired?
“Now all I have to do is wait.”
Typically not following up on applications is a recipe for job-search disaster. In this case, Stacy’s stellar work history brought employers running to her — but, we advise our members to follow up on job applications whenever possible to increase their chances of getting a job interview. (That said, we are super flattered that Stacy was that confident in Snagajob!)
Thank you so much for sharing your story Stacy! Enjoy the Snagajob college care package we’ve sent!
