After something like 30 applications submitted, countless hours of me calling people, finally Gamestop gave me the interview I’ve been waiting for.

Thank you SnagaJob for pointing me to them!

Hi Kayla. Be sure to double and triple check your applications for spelling and grammar errors. Even the smallest mistake can make the biggest difference. It is always a good idea to have someone look over your application with a fresh set of eyes, you may have missed something! Good luck with your job search! I’ve applied to a numerous amount applications, probably around 50. I’ve had like maybe 2 interviews but not much luck landing a job. Before I submit each application I double check my spelling and make sure to answer each question with great information. It seems as if I’m not getting any look. Maybe the next application will be the one.

Same here kayla. I can’t even count how many aps I’ve filled out. In one day I did 27. And that’s just one day. I’ve checked spelling and grammar, which is shallow to deny someone a job at burger king over spelling. But that’s neither here nor there. I’ve followed up, I’ve had 2 interviews. One interview they brought about 50 people in a room all together and thanked us all for coming and just told us how their company works. Sorry but that is not an interview. Other companies I’ve called directly told me “we are not hiring” meaning snagajob is posting employers that are not when even hiring. And that’s messed up. But I feel your struggle and your not alone in it. I just keep trying and applying. Something has to land eventually.

There are ‘tips’ out there about following up, face to face with the employer, etc. Most times what I see is that employers DON”T want you to do this. Some even write on the job listing that if you do any of these things you will NOT be hired.

Hi Sherry – We hear from our members who say they think the only reason they got the job was because they followed up on the application. We also hear from employers that following up is very important in the application process. You are correct, there are places out there that do not want you to follow up. If it specifically says not to in the posting, then don’t. Other than that, go for it.

Well thank you Snagajob. I was working at Sams then I quit because of the conditions. So when I started to look for work it was harder than I thought. So then I tried Snagajob. after a few tries I still didn’t get a call. And by that time I was ready to give up. But then I decided to keep at it. So then I applied to a few more positions and on that same day someone called with a job opportunity. I had a phone interview and the next day I was hired after the one on one interview

Hi Lanie! Do you have relevant experience you can list from your previous location? It will still show the employer that you do have experience and skills. If you are looking for something a little more local, think about volunteering somewhere. This will not only give you experience, but will also give you valuable connections and references. Good lucke!

    Hello There,
I have been looking for a job since August and I finally got one…, but it wasn’t any help from snag a job. It was a job I had already worked at, (a theme park here in my state,) and they needed people for the Fall season to help close out the park.

I have applied for many jobs here on snag a job, filled out my profile, put down my reasons why I needed the jobs to begin with and no one has seem to shed any light on me. I have even called, visited and re-applied for places just to make sure all my information was correct and still nothing. Recently, in the last two weeks, I have been re-apply for more jobs here through snag a job because I need two more jobs onto this one to pay a fraction of the bills I have piled. Recently , 2/3 of the jobs have pulled up the “We’re sorry! You’re not qualified enough for this job. Your application was not sent to the employer for further review” message. After so many of those in a row I was deterred yet again.

You hear all these success stories, I have good background and qualification and I have work experience. I’m nineteen years old, in debt already with terrible credit, barely affording a car I can’t even drive because it’s in dire need to finish being fixed who’s on the verge on losing everything who’s trying to go to college finally. It supposed to be easier for younger people with ambitions and drive to get a job, but when even the fast food joint who is crying out for new employees denies you there’s something wrong. That’s just my “two cents.”

I think that snag a job a great place to start when looking for a job. This company makes it easy to look for jobs as well as to apply for jobs because we get directed to the company we want to apply. One of the best thing about this company is that you have email alert about all the new jobs which gives me a advantage to apply for the position. Over all i would have to give you a 10 out of 10 for Snagajob.com

I am having a problem finding a job. I have spent about 2 years trying to find a job in my area and not even ONE employer replied back. I have done some volunteering work (both were one day) and I don’t think that’s enough experience. I’ve applied for jobs with other websites even from spam, I really gotten nowhere there. I have been out of high school for about half a year now and would like to advance in life. It limits it even more since I can’t drive. Probably applied to about 30+ places and still nothing. I tried following up on a few, but they still haven’t gotten me nowhere. Then I did some research recently and saw that employers want the best qualified candidates to fill their positions. I also have a resume and checked multiple times for mistakes. I am beginning to hate the HR because they are so choosy with their applicants. I also wonder why they don’t at least reply back and say that my application has not been accepted or I have not been qualified for the position. It’s really starting to blow mind and it’s like what are they thinking? There has to be some trick to this job thing. I apologize for this long comment but please take the consideration to read it please.

I have read about on the internet about why employers can’t call me back about if my application wasn’t accepted and why I didn’t get the job. Are they really that busy with reviewing several resumes and applications that they can’t even call you back? I’ve also learned that they use something called Applicant Tracking Systems or ATS to review the application before the HR sees it. So basically, it will be so simple if they can just notify you that your application was accepted or rejected. Also, another thing I don’t understand is that interviews also mean that you won’t get the job, but I always keep ending up at the application submission part, even when they are giving out interviews. This job thing is such a paradox. So is there anything that I could do to increase my likelihood of getting hired?

I haven’t had a single phone call or email or anything about the dozens of jobs that i have applied to. I can’t even count how many. I don’t know if these other testimonials are fake or they’re just living in some lucky cities.

Hi Heather! I promise that our testimonials are not fake. Are you following up on your applications? I hear from many of our hired members, who tell me that following up is why they got hired. Have you thought about following up in person? We talked to a major national employer who told us that following up in person is very effective. Take a look at this article: http://www.snagajob.com/resources/following-up-in-person/ and let me know if you have any questions!

After about 30 or so applications and absolutely no interviews I don’t even care about getting a job anymore. I’m way more qualified then all the kids at my school that have jobs but I guess it’s about who you know not what you know.

How do I know that my application has been submitted or recorded for further action. There seem to be no feed back.

Hi there! As soon as you submit your application through Snagajob, it is sent directly to the employer. After you submit your application, your next step would be to follow up on your application. Check out this video: http://www.snagajob.com/resources/video-how-to-follow-up/ where we break it down for you :) .
