Snagajob’s Holiday Help Contest

by: Kim Costa

‘Tis the season for giving, and at Snagajob, we take that seriously. We want to help out some people this year, and need you to tell us what is on your holiday wish list.

Other than a job, let us know what you need this year. It could be improvements around the house, interview outfits, job search coaching, help with some bills, or even a gift for someone else that you don’t have the means of giving. The opportunities are endless! We want you to tell us how you would use some extra cash for the holiday season. We will choose two winners to each receive $500 American Express gift cards to help make their holidays a little brighter.

Submissions will be open through Nov. 30 and a winner will be notified by Dec. 4.

Simply fill out the form below and tell us what you need to make your holidays special. Either write it out, or upload a video to YouTube and send us the link.

Contest closed! Check out more contests.

As ashamed as I am to admit it, if I do not find work soon I will not be able to purchase my one and only Grandson his Christmas present this year. At eight years old he is wanting to take up the art of Fencing. He need body armor, a Fencing sword, special mask and shoes. His mom is an out of work (due to car accident) and they are financially distressed this year. So I would love to buy him some of the necessary things so that he can take up the art.

Form filled out is correct, how ever it keeps returning with problems, so now I have 2 issues that
interrupted my job search. Not to be rude or ungrateful of the possibility of helping my son, but it just goes to show that nothing will change for me in the near future, and I always thought that giving at Christmas to someone in need should NOT BE FORCED TO HAVE THEIR NAME ON ANY BLOG OR SITE. SUPPOSE YOU WERE IN MY SHOES? SO with that being said perhaps if that is the only way to accomplish my goal for him(I ALSO KNOW HE DOES NOT WANT TO BE SPECIFICALLY WITH HIS NAME SINGLED OUT ON A SITE)
However, thank you any way for the chance, I do appriciate that.

Merry Christmas TO ALL AT SNAGAJOB

    Sincerely,

    Jackie S.

I could use a part time day job close to home, or a fulltime at night. My “take-home” pay would go into my bank account where it would earn interest and I could pay my bills with, but I now have to take care of my elderly parents. Sofar, I’ve applied for a few jobs, but haven’t got any responses back yet. Oh, well….

      John,
Feel your frustration, I too have been looking for work, I graduate with my MBA in HR Management on December 16. I am starting to get nervous. I also take care of my elderly parents for now and have been for almost 3 years (my sister will take over if I have to move for work), I apply for jobs, have been told I have a strong resume, great skill sets, but yet.. Nothing. It is very frustrating. Keep our spirits up and just believe that if we continue to work at this something will come along that is meant for us!!

I just thought of “2″ different jobs right now…(1) Be an AVON Representative or (2) Be a Mary Kay Beauty Consultant. Both jobs are not just for women anymore! I’ve met some men that work either full or part time working for AVON and also some men that do the same with Mary Kay Cosmetics and Skin Care! Both companies also have products and gifts for the men as well as for the ladies! I used to be A MK Beauty Consultant when I lived in Arlington, Texas, but it just wasn’t for me, it might be for you though!

I never respond to blogs (if that what this is) generally because it serves no function other than being read by others after which the next statement is read. This is my first. Offering a gift is an outstanding thing to do for someone that fills the requirement, and I congratulate SnagAJob for initiating the help. Many of us have our story of why we need help…all legitimate. This we can see with so many saying in this forum “I need a job.” I’ve been looking for over five years racking up over 500 rejections, but that’s just another story. Perhaps you and American Express can revisit the reward and offer ten $100.00 gift cards, with so many being in need.

I agree with Malik S. I actually just entered your contest. Im out of work and have been putting in applications like a crazed woman to no avail. My story is not one to try to tug on anyones heart strings but I will be out on the street living soon or in my car if I can keep ahold of it (either pay rent or make a car payment) I can live in my car. Well on top of that I received a call today from my bank telling me that my account was comprimised and now the money that would have been deposited in my bank on FridaY i WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ACCESS. I have to wait 10 to 14 days to get into my account as I dont live in the same state as my bank and I have no other bank for them to send my pension check to. So now not only am I almost on the street but now I have no possible way to even buy any food to eat. Im sorry I needed to vent.

Temp jobs are the worst, and I don’t recommend them for anyone. As a temp worker for over a year, I have to say I have been walked all over like a used door mat. I have been lied to by the temp agency by them telling me it could lead to full time work, so I had hopes of it turning out to be a permanent position. The temp job I worked for placed me in a company that I was with for a little over a year, and I busted my butt the whole time trying to impress the lady I worked for and it got me no where. Later on they were hiring for a position in the department I was in. I had expressed to the Human Resource department that I was interested in any full time work when the position became available, and when the time came I was overlooked all three times…and one of the positions they were hiring for was in the same department I was in so I even had the experience!! This isn’t even half of it. I could go on to list the lady at the temp job I worked for was holding my paychecks, she obtained my bank account information in order to deposit my checks, which I found out later one she wasn’t supposed to do, and so on…
