Job searches are tough, but with the average search taking much longer than usual, it’s easier than ever to feel down about your job hunt. The trouble is, people who stay positive tend to have the drive to submit more applications, follow up and have a better chance of impressing hiring managers with a great attitude.
So how do you stay positive when your job search has you down? Snagajob member James shares how he did it (and got hired)! We asked James to share his story because even while he was in the middle of a long job search, he was always full of encouragement and great advice for other members on our Facebook page.
“I love having a positive outlook, it makes life much easier,” James says. “After sustaining a significant job injury in 2008, which would not allow me return to my prior job, my job search began. After looking through paper after paper and job site after job site my search was going no where. My friend told me about Snagajob and a job that I could apply to, so I figured why not? Every other site I went to wasn’t working.
“The first job I applied to I got an interview. Although I didn’t get that job I found that Snagajob tools were easier then most to search for employment. Now I have always been an optimistic person, but I was shocked that a company actually cared about people and their job search. Snagajob has been outstanding in helping people look for work. Giving people as much advice as possible and users being able to network and support each other. I applied for over 20 positions on Snagajob and only got called for a few interviews. Then I applied for a job as a dishwasher, I went to the interview and with the tools and advice from friends and Snagajob, I was hired with in 10 mins. I was ecstatic! The first thing I did when I got home was thank Snagajob for their help!
“Snagajob is by far the best job search site on the net. They go above and beyond for everyone. Join Snagajob and don’t be shy asking for help; there is no shame in asking for help or advice when it comes to work – especially in today’s economy.”
We were so excited when we heard that James got hired we wanted to send him a special Shout-Out:
Congrats James, we’re so exited for you! And thank you for your enthusiasm, your great attitude and your awesome advice.
