The submissions (almost 600 of them) are in, and our judges are working hard to narrow the talent down to the top five finalists. Make a note in your calendar that public voting for the winner will be open from Sept. 5-12, 2012.
Our panel of judges range from music professionals to entertainment personalities to leaders in the hourly workforce.
Shawn Boyer- CEO and founder of Snagajob. Shawn’s first job was cutting grass around his neighborhood.
Collins family- When Aaron Collins passed away, his family started working to make his last wish a reality – leave big tips for hourly workers. This has sparked a movement across the country. Learn more and watch videos here: http://aaroncollins.org/. Tina Collins, Aaron’s mother, began her career working as an administrative assistant.
Melissa Chase- A radio host of Richmond’s 103.7 The River. Rock out with here here: http://www.1037river.com/melissa-chase/. Melissa started her career doing office work for her dad. This included everything from filing to cleaning out fish tanks!
Charlie Todd- Founder of Improv Everywhere. An accomplished author, you can find him performing all over the world: http://improveverywhere.com/charlie_todd/. Charlie began his career working at a sporting goods store.
Chad Brown- A music writer and reviewer for www.Richmond.com. Chad got his start when he opened his own ticket brokerage company at age 17.
Paul Darnell- A Professional stunt double. Paul is most known for his work on Twilight, doubling for Robert Pattinson. Check out all his gigs: http://pauldarnell.com. Paul’s first job was working at a computer store, helping people make websites and videos.
Sherri Matthews-A Richmond vocal coach and former music teacher. She has coached several students into professional singing careers. Sherri started her career playing the piano for a local theater.
