Quick facts: Teen jobs
- Ages 14 and 15: During the school year, hours are limited to 3 hours a day and 18 hours a week.
- Ages 16 and 17: There's no limit on hours, but, if you're under 18 you can't work in a job that the Labor Department considers hazardous.
- July is the traditional peak of employment for workers age 16–24
- The minimum age for employment in non-agricultural employment is 14 years of age
- Youth of any age may be employed at any time, in any occupation in agriculture on a farm owned or operated by their parent or guardian.
