After 30 years in the business meeting arena, I found myself without a job at the end of January '09. Living in Michigan and working primarliy with the automotive industry, there was little hope of that job ever coming back. Unfortunately, I also encountered some major health issues in May. My recovery from surgery and subsequent chemotherapy would not bode well in looking for a job -- even one part-time. I signed up with snagajob.com and saw that my local Kmart was looking for part-time cashiers. I thought "why not, what do I have to lose?" I was given an interview and literally was given the job that day even after explaining what I was going through health-wise. I am pleased to report that I've acquired employment through your website. I am now an employee of Jo-Ann Fabrics in Fremont, CA!I am starting off in a part time position but with the next year hope to move on up to full time. Where do I start, it still looks like a dream to me because everything came together so fast. I am currently working, but I was looking for a second job. On this Monday I was talking to my co-worker about getting a second job, and there were SnagAJob.com flyers sitting near our cashiers. My friend took one of the flyers and gave to me. When I got home, I went straight for the computer to check out this web site I never heard of. It took me less than 10 minutes to open an account, make a profile, apply for a job with Vector, and make a phone call for an interview with them. I went to the interview today, and I got a second job with Vector. Snagajob.com makes the other guys look like jokes. Well, to start off, it all happened in the blink of an eye. I got an email from SnagAJob.com on Tuesday, I filled the application out late that night, Six Flags called me Wednesday, and I got hired that Thursday. I was just way too happy to even talk. Well what can I say... I am impressed with the quick response I got, I didn't know if applying online would work, I'm so glad I gave it a shot... I was called for an interview on Tuesday June 2nd at JCPenney that same day I was called for interview number 2 and the following day on June 3rd I went for interview number 3 where I was told I would be a great addition to their team yayyy!!! I don't start training until next week on June 9th but I'm excited to learn new things and I'm actually looking forward to it... I got a job! I looked for quite a while trying to find a job. The search was absolutely fruitless. Then, out of the blue, a random Dept. of Labor job actually paid off and I got a job selling shoes. It wasn't the job that I wanted, and I had never worked in sales, but it was work. About a month into my job, I was contacted by JCPenney. I had applied to there and many other stores on SnagAJob.com, and surprisingly enough, JCPenney was interested. I was brought in for an interview, and I didn't hear anything for days... I lost hope in the job. About a week and a half later, I got another call to come in again, only this time to meet with the store manager! I came in, met him, he was very friendly, and he said that he liked my attitude and thought I would be a terrific fit for JCPenney.
The day after Easter, another half a week or so, I got a call back and they offered me a salary figure - I would be making almost a dollar an hour more than what I was making just selling shoes, plus I was told that with my college background, I had the potential to move up, something my old job didn't offer. I put in my two weeks' notice yesterday at the shoe store, and the coolest thing of all is that I have to drive two hundred feet more to get to JCPenney than my old job, so gas wouldn't be any extra.
