Snagajob named on FORTUNE magazine ‘Great Place to Work’ list
Snagajob, America’s largest hourly employment network for job seekers and employers, again has been named one of the best companies to work for in America on the Great Place to Work® annual ranking published today by FORTUNE magazine.
Snagajob ranks 12th on the list of the 25 best medium-sized companies.
Snagajob, which was named the No. 1 Best Small Company to Work for in America last year, graduated to the medium category this year as the company experienced significant growth in 2012.
This is the fifth consecutive year that Snagajob has been named a Great Place to Work. It was selected among medium companies (251-999 employees) competing for the best place to work honor, which is judged according to employee surveys, an in-depth culture questionnaire and factors such as credibility, respect, fairness, pride and camaraderie.
“I’m especially proud of this year’s Great Place to Work honor because the company was competing against larger organizations and still placed highly among a group of very accomplished companies,” said Shawn Boyer, CEO of Snagajob. “This award helps confirm that our intense focus on people and culture is the right approach, and the outside recognition is a source of pride for our employees. Snagajob has experienced tremendous growth over the past 12 years, and that success is a direct result of a phenomenal team of Snaggers.”
Just a few of the Snagajob initiatives that focus on people and culture are:
An office that fosters culture: Snagajob’s new headquarters in Innsbrook was designed with the express purpose of supporting the company’s culture. The elimination of offices and introduction of low-walled workspaces encourages collaboration; the town center complete with a pub, big-screen TV and ping pong table helps build camaraderie; and the two-story slide reminds Snaggers to play hard while working hard.
Culture squad: This is the cross-departmental team of Snaggers of all levels ensuring that Snagajob maintains a healthy work/life balance. Its self-directed responsibilities include planning events that have become company traditions such as the annual Chili Cook-Off, office golf tournament, Halloween costume contest and Office Olympics.
New-employee welcome: Once a candidate has accepted a job offer, Boyer sends a hand-written note and a $100 gift card so that incoming Snaggers may celebrate their new job and Snagger status with their families.
Benefits, too: Some of the more unique company benefits include an annual paid day off to volunteer, paternity leave, back-up childcare, gym membership reimbursements, a “comfortably casual” dress code and all-expense-paid trips to resorts with posh accommodations for five- and 10-year Snagger-versaries.
“The Best Small & Medium Workplace list grows more competitive every year and this list represents the best of the best,” said Susan Lucas-Conwell, global chief executive officer of Great Place to Work. “While each company is unique, what they have in common are strong cultures that support positive workplaces.”
Organizations named on the list see many benefits that include better financial performance, less employee turnover, higher levels of customer satisfaction and loyalty, more innovative and creative thinking, higher productivity and enhanced public perception.
