ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

GUEST INTERACTIONS

  • Open the doors as guests enter and leave the restaurant.
  • Verbally greet guests immediately upon entering the restaurant.
  • Seat guests at tables in a friendly and timely manner.
  • Take and manage reservations; receiving telephone calls and properly documenting reservation request.
  • Complete wait sheets (by hand or through Open Table)
  • Complete table count sheets (by hand or through Open Table)
  • Answer the telephone with a smile
  • Meet guest’s needs by providing information about the restaurant, menu items, and surrounding area.
  • Offer a thoughtful farewell and invite them back.
  • Ensure no guest leaves the restaurant unhappy. Give the guest a comp card or involve the manager if necessary.

PROCESS ORDERS

  • Forward ToGo’s to the bartender or ToGo attendant

HOUSEKEEPING

  • Maintain guests’ needs throughout their dining experience by assisting servers with pre-bussing procedures.
  • Sweep floor area around table to assist servers as needed.
  • Stock all items on the Front Desk Checklist
  • Ensure menus are clean and free of debris
  • Complete restroom checklist

RESULTS UPON WHICH PERFORMANCE IS EVALUATED

  • Guests are greeted upon entering the restaurant
  • Guests are seated as promptly as possible or directed to the bar until there table is ready
  • Communication between the other host / hostess and managers
  • Wait are run efficiently and according to procedures
  • Offer genuine farewell’s as guests leave the restaurant
  • Take all necessary steps to ensure guest satisfaction

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS
As a member of the Houlihan’s Restaurants, Inc. team, a host should know and follow Houlihan’s Restaurants, Inc. policies & procedures. They should have strong interpersonal skills that would enable him/her to verbally communicate in a positive manner with co-workers, guests, and the general public.

The host should be able to perform the outlined essential job functions, which require the following abilities:

  • Able to see at a distance (20 feet), at close range (12 inches), distinguish between shapes, and utilize peripheral vision to avoid potential hazards
  • Able to hear in one or both ears so that verbal communication can be received, understood, and acted upon
  • Able to read, write, and perform addition/subtraction calculations
  • Able to control and utilize fingers to write
  • Able to bend, handle, carry, lift, reach, wipe, climb, stoop
  • Able to walk and stand for up to 8 hours
