About this job

Position purpose:

 

Responsible for providing personalized guest service by assisting with luggage, transportation, directions, delivering room gifts and mail, guest laundry, valet, etc. Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of hotel vans, front drive, surrounding hotel property, and hotel entryway and lobby.

 

Essential Elements:

 

  • Regular attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to stand for prolonged lengths of time.
  • Ability to move freely within the hotel.
  • Ability to push and/or pull a luggage cart weighing approximately 75-100 pounds, including up & down inclines.
  • Ability to lift, carry and store in overhead areas approximately 50-75 pounds.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle and comply with driving and parking requirements.
  • Ability to use communication equipment, for example: telephones & facsimile machine.
  • Ability to read and write.
  • Ability to understand diagrams, maps and count.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with guests (and other employees) and able to escort/direct them within the hotel and in the community.
  • Ability to operate housekeeping equipment (for example:  vacuum).
  • Ability to work with chemicals (for example:  cleaners, polishes and solvents)
  • Ability to interact with guests and other employees in a courteous, empathetic, and discreet manner.
  • Ability to understand and execute all safety and emergency procedures, for example: fire, crowd control, inclement weather, and bomb threats.
  • Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, and reach on a daily basis.
  • Ability to direct or escort guests to facilities/functions in hotel.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Ability to anticipate guests’ needs, resolve guest complaints to ensure guest satisfaction and maintain positive guest relations at all times.
  • Ability to work in extreme temperatures.
  • Ability to hear guest voices through a closed door.
  • Ability to work flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.

 

Job Tasks:       

           

  • Greet guests as they come in to the hotel.
  • Be visible to the guests.
  • Open front door for guests as they enter the hotel.
  • Assist with guest luggage upon check in and check out.
  • Assist in storing and retrieving guest luggage to/from the storage areas.
  • Transport guests to and from the hotel and other destinations as required.
  • Provide valet parking as appropriate or required.
  • Deliver mail, packages, gifts, luggage, dry-cleaning etc. to guest rooms as required.
  • Assist guests with dry cleaning and laundry needs.
  • Be alert to guest needs by telephone and/or in person in order to exceed guest expectations.
  • Provide updated information pertaining to the hotel and local area.
  • Assist with the general maintenance and upkeep of the lobby area and front entrance.
  • Water plants.
  • Empty ashtray/trash receptacles on a regular basis.
  • Polish bell carts.
  • Maintain cleanliness of hotel van; alert manager to service needs.
  • Follow a log book and fill it out accordingly.
  • Additional assignments and projects; check with the manager on a daily basis

  • Ability to work a varied and flexible schedule understanding that the hotel is operating 24 hours a day 365 days of the year including weekends and holidays.

Qualification Standards

 

Education:

Associates Degree or Bachelors Degree in related field (i.e.: Hotel Management, Business Management) preferred.

 

Experience:

  • Preferred: minimum of (1) years hotel/resort experience.
  • Must poses decent driving record.
  • Must poses valid driver license and at least (2) years of driving experience.

 

Licenses or Certificates:

Valid Driver’s License
