Job Type: Full Time position. Usually 40 hours 6 days a week. Must be available to adjust schedule to meet business demands including working weekdays, weekends, holidays for various shifts, evenings and on occasion work at another store location.

 Summary:  Buy For Less is seeking for guest driven, reliable, energetic, and self-motivated individuals to join meat department. Individual will be responsible for daily Meat Department duties.

Job Responsibilities:

  Cuts and trims meat according to Buy For Less standards
- Operates electric grinder/saw/knife sharpener/tenderizer/slicer
- Have knowledge of rotation, sanitation, shrink awareness, merchandising skills, cutting skills, using the saw and grinder
- Cuts and trims meat to size for display or as orders by the guest
- Wrap, count and price packages, weigh up any price per pound packages that will be displayed in counter
- Rotates products in meat cooler and ensures proper storage practices
- Keeps total department clean and in optimum sanitary conditions
- Ensure the production of high quality merchandise and service
- Controlled freshness by rotating and coding all products and remove out-of-code merchandise
- Ensure meat is fresh and visually appetizing on cases
- Maintaining and refilling meat cases and related products
- Maximizing sales through excellent customer service and minimizing shrink through proper utilization of procedures
- Follows department and company policies and procedures
- Enforces Health Department regulations regarding food handling, storage, and cleanliness of work environment
- Have knowledge of products, provides information to customers regarding use and preparation of meats
- Assists in other Buy For Less locations as needed
- Performs other duties as assigned to meet business needs

Job Requirements:

- Eighteen (18) years of age or older
- Journey man label
- Excellent guest service skills. Must greet the customers and respond to their questions and requests in a courteous, fast, friendly and helpful way
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong work ethic
- Knowledge of different meats, cuts and prices
- Ability to demonstrate trustworthiness and integrity in daily activities
- Ability to function as a team member and get along with others

Job Physical Requirements:

- Must be able to lift a minimum of 45 lbs. frequently
- Ability to safely operate all Market Department equipment including slicer, grinder, scale, saw, knife, wrapper, box cutter, scales steamer, and cuber
- Ability to maintain a knife grip to make meat cuts in to specification
- Ability to disassemble, clean and reassemble all equipment as part of the sanitation process
- Ability to stand, for long periods, in a working environment of 45°F or less
- Ability to weigh, price, label, organize and rotate product
- Ability to read and understand documents such as recipes, department policies and company employee manual
