Diesel Mechanic

Diesel Mechanic Summary: Maintain, repair and overhaul transit buses and bus equipment.

Diesel Mechanic Shift: 3pm- 1:30 am

Diesel Mechanic Responsibilities:
  • Routine and preventative maintenance.
  • Assist with frequent DOT inspections
  • Diagnose malfunctions and perform vehicle repairs
  • Steering, electrical, cooling, brake systems, drive trains, suspension, transmissions, etc.
  • Repair malfunction to all vehicle systems, overhaul, tune and repair engines.
  • Repair and maintain hydraulic systems.
  • Maintain a safe, clean and productive work area.

Qualified Candidates For The Diesel Mechanic Position Will Have Met The Following:
  • Required:
    • Equivalent of a high school diploma or GED & minimum of 3 years of related maintenance and repair
    • CDL is a MUST
    • Must furnish own tools
    • Valid Drivers License
    • Must be 21 years of age
  • Preferred:
    • CDL, or the ability to obtain may be required
    • ASE Certifications




Working Conditions:

Shop, office, yard, vehicle environment, may require lifting of 20 to 50 lbs., at least once a day.
