BANQUET SETUP
Position Summary:
Responsible for the set up and break down of banquet functions.
Essential Functions:
1. Set up and breakdown of all equipment and furniture for banquet and meeting functions as specified in the event order.
2. Assist with the set up and restocking of break stations.
3. Responsible for the removal of trash from banquet function areas.
4. Ensure that tables, chairs and the general floor area is free from crumbs, garbage or spills and cleans up as required on an ongoing basis throughout the function.
5. Work in a safe manner at all times, following proper lifting techniques, stacking, handling and carrying procedures for all dishes, sternos, cutlery and glassware.
6. Assist with the set up and decoration of buffet.
7. Removal for post-function cleaning including but not limited to pre-spotting linens and carpets, vacuuming and cleaning walls.
8. Have knowledge of A/V equipment such as flipcharts, overheads and projectors.
9. Maintain clean service areas.
10. Have knowledge of proper set up of displays and service wares including proper use of sternos or similar warming devices.
11. Exercise caution and use judgement when handling/working with hot plates, soup urns and hot beverages.
12. Assist as required with the set up and decoration of buffet.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Adhere to all work rules, procedures and policies established by the hotel, including, but not limited to, those contained in the employee handbook.
- The hotel operates 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. Department schedules must accommodate fluctuating business demands and employees may be asked to work shifts other than those they prefer or normally work.
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to stand for a long period of time.
- Ability to lift/carry heavy objects.
