Diesel Mechanic Summary: Perform repairs and maintenance on refuse vehicles to maximize safe and productive operations.
Diesel Mechanic Responsibilities:
- Routine and preventative maintenance.
- Diagnose mechanical problems on suspensions, brake systems, hydraulic systems, tires and wheels.
- Performs upgrades.
- Performs overhauls on engines.
- Diagnose issues and make repairs using service manuals.
- Reads and interprets VCRs (vehicle condition reports) and/or repair orders.
- Other duties may be assigned
Qualified Candidates For The Position Will Have Met The Following:
- Required:
- Equivalent of a high school diploma or GED & 1 year of related truck or heavy equipment maintenance and repair; OR 4 years of related truck or heavy equipment maintenance and repair.
- Valid drive license
- Preferred:
- CDL or Eligible to obtain CDL
- Mechanical or trade school certificate
- Certificate in electronic diagnostics
- ASE certificate
- Welding and/or fabrication skills and/or experience
Working Conditions:
Shop, office, yard, vehicle environment, may require lifting of 20 to 50 lbs., at least once a day.
