The Operational Reporting Development Organization supports a diverse portfolio of enterprise Business Intelligence (BI) and reporting platforms and applications. As the strategic enabler of BI within UnitedHealth Group (UHG) and Optum, the team supports over 100 business areas and 7,000 active users. Solutions span numerous BI technologies including Cognos, SAP Business Objects, and MicroStrategy.


Job Responsibilities for this position:



  • Business Intelligence (BI) platform product management, including driving and supporting efforts to support commercialization and ongoing evolution of enterprise, strategic, multi-tenant BI platforms

  • Primary steward of enterprise BI Platforms

  • Project technical leader for projects that either evolve the underlying BI platforms or support or enable new or existing tenants on the enterprise BI platforms

  • BI Platform Business Development, including but not limited to tenant engagement, procurement, demonstration, etc.

  • Lead Activities to document, evolve, and communicate BI platform engagement, operating,  service and financial models and procedures

  • Supervise and lead BI platform administrators and other dotted line cross-functional resources on a variety of activities including but not limited to: formal projects, periodic routine support activities, ad-hoc  analysis, and problem troubleshooting

  • Responsible for some Platform Administration team administrative activities such as, but not limited to: Platform Configuration, Tenant Implementation, Security

  • Administration, Object Publishing, Content Delivery Administration, Infrastructure Administration, Environment Monitoring, Non-prod Environment Support, Tier 3 Production Support

  • Lead or support BI tool assessments

  • Partner with IT teams, Procurement, Finance, and vendors to deliver high quality, low-cost BI capability to constituents

  • May involve HR and/or work management of a small team of onshore people, and work management of 1-2 offshore team members

  • Lead efforts to drive $1M+ in annual cost savings by BI platform consolidation, modernization, and simplification

  • Promote and communicate BI Best Practices across the Enterprise

  • Limited, hands-on, platform administration

  • Strong analytical problem-solving and conceptual skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Travel up to 25% of time

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

  • 8 or more years of application development or application support experience

  • 4 or more years of experience in technical leadership roles on information technology projects

  • 2 or more years of experience working on complex, cross departmental, information technology projects

Asset



  • Technical experience in any of the following Business Intelligence Products: IBM Cognos v10 or later, MicroStrategy v9 or later, SAP Business Objects v4 or later

  • Experience as a product manager, IT account/relationship manager, or IT Service Manager

  • Experience managing technical resources with HR accountabilities in multiple geographic locations

  • Windows 2008 or later, LDAP, or SQL Server Administration Experience

  • Experience building and gaining business case approval

  • Ability to hold on-call responsibilities to respond to system issues 24x7x365
