Responsibilities

FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

The Solutions Specialist ETC has the responsibility to work directly with the Verizon Business Core Account Team to direct strategic product sales activities. The Solutions Specialist ETC is a sales overlay role but has the responsibility to drive new opportunities to closure. Often times the Solutions Specialist ETC is required to orchestrate between multiple departments to ensure a total solution is brought to a customer. A Solutions Specialist ETC requires very little supervision and is required to take a leadership role to drive new business on behalf of Verizon Business. The Solutions Specialist ETC ensures that the established sales plans on a monthly/quarterly/annual basis for all established targets are met or exceeded. The delivery of accurate and timely sales forecasting is required. A Solutions Specialist ETC should display the ability to forecast sales plus or minus 10% accuracy rate. Enough activity is required within accounts to ensure that projected new sales to VzB are forecasted to establish a solid funnel per corporate standards. They must work with account teams and customers to find solutions to customer’s business issues. A Solutions Specialist ETC is expected to work with organizations within VzB and 3rd Party Partners to develop a homogenous solution to meet the desired end to end customer solution. Budgetary proposals and pricing should be developed by working directly with product management, product engineering, Insite descriptions, third party vendors and PCM for standard off-the-shelf solutions. The same information should be prepared for custom solutions. They also demonstrate the ability to support high revenue accounts (i.e. Premier Accounts) to qualify, position, and close opportunities. The proven ability to engage at executive levels within each account is required. Creative thought on driving new revenue for the branches supported is required. In this role, the Solutions Specialist ETC must challenge the account teams to think outside of normal processes and should demonstrate leadership qualities within their own team. They are required to work with regional legal departments to guide the recommended solutions through contract negotiations in the interest of closing new business. The development of customer ready presentations and proposals with the help of the required support teams (standard or custom) is necessary. A Solutions Specialist ETC should gather and consolidate market observations and market trends. This information should be provided to product marketing to influence product development activities, features, roadmaps and pricing strategies. They should effectively manage communication and administrative activities through the delivery of high quality and informative content on any requested report or any deal specific updates requested by management. A Solutions Specialist ETC is expected to provide various levels of reports for top opportunities, weekly progress reports, branch director updates, account review documentation, as well as any ad hoc report requests generated by management. They take creative, custom repeatable solutions as well as upcoming products and feature enhancements to account teams on a regular basis. A Solutions Specialist ETC must demonstrate the ability to take a leadership role in creating a custom solution. In order to create custom solutions a thorough understanding of internal processes is required. The Solutions Specialist ETC must work with Product Marketing to understand upcoming enhancements to be able train customers and account teams. They need to ensure effective linkage with all support channels for which the Solutions Specialist ETC has direct product responsibility. The Solutions Specialist ETC should develop a process with account teams, sales managers, and directors to review top priorities weekly. Frequent and consistent communication between assigned branches and direct management is required. They show continued self-improvement in the product discipline to further understand industry, and products.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS

Advanced skills to perform complex work for a functional area and general knowledge of other areas; requires independent thinking; demands full use and application of principles, theories, concepts and technologies. Generally requires a BS degree or Masters Degree and a minimum of 9+ years of experience in a related discipline.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS

A proven sales background within the strategic product discipline is required. May include knowledge of designing an overall solution working with an SE (for standard off-the-shelf solutions), or understanding customer solutions, complex solutions, and pre-sales engineering. A UCC Solutions Specialist ETC requires a thorough knowledge of Unified Communications & Collaboration products with two or more of the following disciplines: IP Telephony (SIP), VoIP/PBX, IP Consulting, Video Conferencing, Professional Services, or Outsourcing.

Prior experience within named industry is preferable from service providers, vendors or industry consultants. Experience or a working relationship with the product management organization, the pricing process, legal process knowledge, as well as providing specific customer/market feedback to product management for future enhancements is preferred. Additionally, it is recommended that these skills are evident: reading, understanding, interpreting, and utilizing industry and financial analysis reports; strong written and oral communications and the ability to present both internally and externally to all levels of management; strong critical thinking skills and excellent project management skills to lead the sales life-cycle of engagements.
