Under the direction of the Ranch Manager, the House person cleans and maintains the pullet houses. The house person operates the machinery and equipment inside the Pullet houses. 1) Mortality - The employee must be able to pull dead chickens from the cages inside the poultry house. The employee must be able to count and write down the number of dead birds found every day. 2) Bird Welfare - The employee must be able to look for water in watering cups. The employee must be able to sense changes in temperature and air quality. The employee must be able to tell if there is feed in front of the birds. 3) Manure Management - The employee must be able to run the manure belts to unload manure from the houses. The employee must be able to pick up manure inside the houses. The employee must be able to recognize fly pupa and identify fly breeding inside the houses. 4) The employee must be able to lift 40-60 pounds. 5) Safety - Performs all tasks to ensure personal safety, safety of others, and protection of the Center and its equipment. ▪ Functional mobility and physical strength consistent with the essential job functions, but not limited to the ability to stand, sit, walk, climb, kneel, bend, twist, lift, carry, push, pull, and maintain balance in awkward positions ▪ Ability to understand written and verbal instructions, directions, schedules, policies and procedures ▪ Ability to work independently and in cooperation with others.
