SUMMARY: The technician is qualified to perform the cleaning, maintenance, visual inspection, and removal of parts and attachments. Installation with help of proper manuals, report writing and the disassembly, assembly, parts reuse evaluation, and reconditioning.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties beyond this representative listing may be assigned to the essential job duties and responsibilities of this position based on Company needs.

Read job order and observes and listens to vehicle in operation to determine malfunction and to plan work procedures.

Has limited knowledge to install injectors, pistons, liners, cam shafts, cylinder heads, rod and main bearings, oil pans, clutches, fan hubs, differentials, fifth wheels, brakes, changes or recharges batteries, and replaces transmissions and other parts.

Perform general and detail repair of all trucks, engines and components. Overhauls gas or diesel engines.

Examine protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices on trucks, and makes adjustments.

Lubricate moving parts and drives repaired vehicle to verify conformance to specifications.

Document work performed in an accurate and timely manner.

Protect vehicle to ensure interior and exterior of the vehicle are clean when vehicle is returned to the customer.

Respond to customer inquiries regarding the work. Foster positive customer relations.

Advise customer and/or service writer of any repairs or services which should be performed within the next 3 months.

Tag all warranty parts and returns to warranty clerk.

Clean and maintain an orderly stall and general work areas.

Keep abreast of all factory technical bulletins.

Maintain knowledge of and follows local, state and federal safety hazardous materials regulations.

Ability to multi-task under pressure.

Maintain professional appearance.

QUALIFICATIONS AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS: The individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certificates, Licenses and Registrations: Commercial Driver’s License and good driving record. Must be insurable.

Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small groups situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel for objects, tools, or controls, or mechanical and non-mechanical controls and objects. The employee must regularly be able to with assistance lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in outside weather conditions and may be exposed to extreme heat or cold. The employee is occasionally works near moving mechanical parts, in high precarious places, and with explosive materials. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
