As an Underwriting Data Analyst within our Underwriting and Pricing group, you will be responsible for directly supporting the underwriting, risk management, and finance departments. This group is involved with reporting and analyzing trends in pricing, membership, medical costs, and premium yields for internal and external customers.

 

Additional responsibilities for this position include but not limited to the following:

 

-         Support SQL server database environments by running standard data updates and processes.  Validate results and troubleshoot issues to ensure integrity. 

-         Perform ad hoc database analysis of financial results and rating actions across multiple database platforms including Access, SQL Server as well as consolidate information from multiple mainframe platforms

-         Support of analysis and metric reporting to upper management and responses to regulatory agencies.

Requirements

Basic Qualifications:

 

-         3+ years of experience in data analysis and report development

-         BA/BS in Finance, Computer Science or related

-         1+ year of SQL coding experience

-         Advanced Microsoft Excel and Access

-         High level attention to detail and accuracy.  Self-sufficient quality review is a must.

-         Self-managed performer

-         Strong communication skills with internal and external stakeholders

 

Preferred:


-         Health care industry experience preferred


-         Strong financial acumen and P&L reporting skills


-         Prior work experience anticipating accounting, financial reporting, forecasting, and operational issues, assessing their implications, and developing and implementing an appropriate action plan.
