* PAID INTERNSHIP! Seeking current college students, freshmen through seniors. Position will be located in Phoenix, Arizona. No relocation assistance is available. Part-time; up to 20 hours a week. Assignment may be extended.

Overall Purpose: Internship program designed for students seeking a career within the field of government relations.
Key Roles and Responsibilities: Dependent on the projects assigned, this internship opportunity is for highly qualified college/university students who have the potential to become future leaders in AT&T and the business community. The program provides the Student Intern practical work experience to augment their education and career preparation for working in government relations and politics. During the work experience, the Student Intern will learn how a corporation engages in the legislative process at the local and state levels.
The intern will be working with the state External Affairs team to monitor local and state legislation impacting AT&T; write reports on legislative activity, such as actions by legislative committees or local governments (city and county planning commissions and elected councils); assisting with research on bills, ordinances, and public policy issues; participating in meetings between the state External Affairs team and legislative consultants; attending strategy meetings with industry stakeholders; and participating in meetings between External Affairs and elected officials.


Required Qualifications:
  • Must be in the process of pursuing a 2-year or 4-year degree
  • Must be proficient using Microsoft Office products including Word, Power Point, Excel and Outlook
  • Must possess both outstanding written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to clear a criminal background check, driver's license check and drug test
Desired Qualifications:
  • Pursuing degree in Political Science, Government Studies, Law, History, Business (with interest in public policy)
  • Passion for Native American public policy issues and technology
