UnitedHealthcare Finance, part of the UnitedHealth Group family of companies, is now looking for an experienced Healthcare Economics Consultant. The Healthcare Economics Consultant will be responsible for analyzing claims data for a variety of business initiatives and projects throughout the Southeastern United States.  We're looking for that right combination of strong technical skills (MS Excel, Access, and SQL skills) who can also consult with and present information in a meaningful way to internal customers (operations, network, provider relations, claims, etc.).  This is a very dynamic environment, focused in the changing Medicaid/Medicare landscape.

Major Responsibilities of Position:

 


  • Claims cost analysis and data analysis

  • SQL programming (Oracle)

  • Evaluate impact of business and environmental changes on our historical/projected claims

  • Development and maintenance of standardized reporting on utilization trends.

  • Perform data analysis to address emerging trend in medical cost

  • Potential for dashboard design and development

  • Ad hoc analysis and data mining

  • Presentation of results

Requirements

 

We are seeking candidates with the following qualifications:

 


  • Bachelor's degree required, post-graduate degree preferred.

  • 3+ years of experience working in a data analyst/consulting role; preference for experience in the healthcare industry.

  • Strong experience in data manipulation, reporting, and analysis required.

  • At least an intermediate level of proficiency working with Microsoft Excel, including formulas, calculations, pivot tables, charts, graphs, etc. required.

  • At least a basic level of proficiency with MS Word and Access required.

  • At least an intermediate level of proficiency with SQL programming.

  • Strong analytical skills and evidence of creative, proactive problem solving.

  • Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
