Truckload Broker

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

- Be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Strict attention to detail
- Professional communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Familiarity with PC based systems, Excel, Word, etc.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and execute.
- Must be thorough and follow up with ongoing tasks through completion.
- Professional customer service skills
- Problem solving abilities and the ability to be proactive during situations with customers
- Anticipate and recognize potential issues, ability to work with management to help solve potential issues.

*Experience in the spot market truckload brokerage environment
*Ability to negotiate pricing and terms with carriers.
*Securing adequate truck coverage for customers while maximizing profit margins
*Superior communication skills with customers and carriers (oral and written).
*High volume of outbound calls to secure truck coverage and gather pricing
*Develop and proactively build and maintain a strong carrier base.

Qualifications

*1 year experience in transportation brokerage or logistics brokerage.
*Experience or familiarity with DAT software, Internet Truckstop or other carrier load boards.

Expectations

*Work to increase and expand business while solidifying existing business.
*Executing and documenting all aspects of the shipment cycle, which includes:
* coverage
*setting appointments
*dispatching the truck
*ensuring on time pick-ups
*performing check calls while in transit to ensure on time delivery, as well as gathering proofs of delivery,
*All while being able to update the customer or sales person regarding load status.
*Be able to understand and communicate market trends and conditions, capacity issues, and rate quotes and pricing.
*seasonality and price differentiations
*availability of freight vs. availability of trucks (These can affect pricing, are they able to notice and understand that.)
