Technical Writer

LOCATION: SE Portland

SALARY: $25-$35 per hour

JOB DESCRIPTION: Temporary project anticipated to last 2-4 months. Depending on selected candidate's background and experience, possible long term opportunity (T-H) as a BSA or PM, or Product Manager. In need of a technical documentation specialist to create a user manual for a Web based software product we are launching. Experience should include writing user guides for software. Preference given to individuals who have a financial services background.

RESPONSIBILITES:
• Maintain clear, concise, and up-to-date documentation on business processes and software systems
• Maintain standard documentation practices to ensure everyone is always on the same page
• Devise readable and intuitive learning tracks for on-boarding new team members
• Work with developers and project manager(s) to document workflows and requirements for new and existing projects


REQUIREMENTS:

• Able to manage multiple assignments simultaneously, while working independently.
• Ability to understand technology design documents and present them using simple language.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience developing user manuals, training material and operational procedures.
• Experience communicating with software developers to fully understand systems that require documentation.
• Self-motivated, responsible, dependable, accountable.
• Some experience tinkering with programming is a plus.
• Strong research, analysis and problem solving skills.
• Understands the importance of document "design" when it comes to readability.


Any personal or work samples that are available are a big plus.
