Primary Responsibilities:


  • Support the Medicaid and CHIP rate advocacy efforts, interacting with Plan staff and State regulators on a regular basis and driving positive results for our markets

  • Assist in project management and collaborate with team to meet deadlines  

  • Perform data mining and analysis that impacts foundational pricing and risk assumptions

  • Provide accurate premium rate development

  • Perform financial analysis to improve health plan competitiveness

  • Support reserve development as needed

  • Build financial models

  • Extract and compile group specific utilization data to support customer reporting requirements

  • Analyze and interpret quantitative data

  • Create and review monthly/quarterly and ad hoc exhibits based on detailed data sets 

  • Collaborate and communicate results and technical concepts

  • Assist in the preparation of annual revenue and claim forecasts                                                                                                                            

  • Develop data reporting capabilities and proactively identify solutions to problems

Requirements

Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree

  • Must be on the Actuarial exam track, having passed 2 or more Actuarial exams

  • 2+ years of experience working in a corporate environment including experience collecting, analyzing and summarizing qualitative/quantitative data

  • Expertise working with formulas, calculations, charts, graphs in MS Excel

  • Ability to solve problems and think analytically

Preferred Qualifications:



  • Experience working in the health care industry

  • 1+ years of experience building Actuarial models in SQL (Structured Query Language), SAS (Statistical Analysis System) and/or VBA (Visual Basic for Applications)

  • A basic level of proficiency with MS Access
