This Quality Manager - Data Warehousing will support software testing/QA efforts for Optum Data Solutions Delivery. This Manager will work closely with the QA Director in developing test strategy and directing the execution of the test approach for multiple products comprised of Data Warehousing/BI reporting applications. This is a hands-on technical manager role requiring approx. 50% hands on project support and development of test strategies for projects. The Manager, Data Warehouse Quality will insure that the QA process is reviewed in all assigned domains and carried out through all phases of the software development lifecycle. 

 

Responsibilities will include:


  • Coordinate, supervise and is accountable for the daily activities on-shore off-shore activities of business support, technical or production team or unit

  • Manage, coach and assist IT Quality team with testing as needed 

  • Work with users, systems analysts, designers and programmers to create/analyze required project documents insuring quality processes are incorporated

  • Participate in analysis, walk through, inspections, code reviews and user group meetings. 

  • Provide input to estimations and design to provide QA input

  • Work with Business Analysts to:

>  Clarify requirements

>  Understand design requirements

>  Evaluate testing steps and test case

>  Execute and supervise execution of test case

>  Log test results and create QA Matrix.

>  Provide feedback to Analysts and Developers on test results

 


  • Work closely with System Analysts, Project Managers, Development Team, Operation Team and Database Administrators to guide proper timing/resource allocations of each testing piece within a project of QA SDLC

  • Create guidelines for executing manual regression tests, automated tests. Work closely with SME's to make sure that test cases and test strategy cover every aspect to catch defects at initial stages of testing

  • Develop and implement efficient and effective test strategy/plans for large DWH/ETL projects

  • Bring business prospective in testing and focus on meeting business needs by coaching team on performing data analysis

  • Work with team to create, update and execute  automated test scripts for product features based on requirements

  • Responsible for evaluating all identified and entered defects encountered during testing

  • Provide detail information for replication by Business Analyst or Developer

  • Create and maintain test data

  • Manage and working with QA automation, performance testing teams in creating automation and performance testing framework

  • Work with end users and SME's in implementing UAT

  • Set priorities for the team to ensure task completion

  • Coordinate work activities with other supervisors

  • Develop plans to meet short-term objectives

  • Identify and resolve operational problems using defined processes, expertise and judgment

  • Make product, service or process decisions which are most likely to impact individual employees and/or customers (internal or external)

Requirements


  • Bachelor's degree or greater

  • 8+ years of quality assurance testing experience

  • 5+ years of test life cycle and direct resource management experience formally managing a team of 10 or more QA employees

  • 2+ years of experience working in onshore/offshore model

  • 3+ years of experience with large, complex DWH/ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) testing projects

  • 2+ years of experience healthcare industry

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Experience of working with business team

  • Experience with Microsoft Project/Microsoft Visio/MS Excel

  • Experience testing in a large, complex data warehouse environment
