About this job

Optum is seeking an energetic and can-do Associate Medical Director for its Institutional Special Needs Program (I-SNP) and community based products in Central Florida.  The territory is generally Tampa Bay, Lakeland and Polk counties.


 


Medical Director Key Objectives:



  • Meet with Primary Care Physicians  to develop and help maintain successful clinical and business relationships  with Optum-CarePlus

  • Educate and coach our team of mid-level providers (NPs and PAs) on current geriatric standards of care, efficient use of clinical resources, and appropriate quality measures for those individuals who are frail and elderly.

  • Drive efficient use of medical resources to achieve the most appropriate clinical outcomes for long-term care residents.  This is achieved through an established retrospective review of hospitalizations and medical expense management reports.

  • Be the business lead for ensuring comprehensive, meaningful, and accurate documentation and coding in the medical record.

 

Requirements

Requirements:


 



  • Must have an active unrestricted MD or DO license in the state of FL

  • AOA or ABMS Board Certified in a primary specialty (Internal Medicine or Family Practice preferred)

  • AOA or ABMS Board Certified in Geriatrics an asset

  • Minimum of 5 years of geriatric and long-term care experience

  • Managed care experience an asset

  • Travel required in the Tampa Bay area, Polk & Osceola Counties.

**This is a half-time position (20hrs weekly).
