We have a full-time opening for a Food Services Director.

Must be able to work various shifts per week.

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Be authorized to work in the United States.

Requirements

The Food Services Director will supervise and deliver a quality dietary program for residents, including regular meals, special diets, snacks and food service for special events. This includes maintenance of the kitchen, supervision of staff, and order-ing food and supplies.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the dietary department and all food service.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures of the community and see that the department complies with established policies and procedures.
  • Orient and instruct employees in the kitchen and dining room.
  • Under the supervision of the Executive Director, purchase food and supplies for the kitchen ensuring that adequate preparations are made for every meal.
  • Ensure that the dietary department is safe and sanitary and meets regulatory requirements.
  • Report equipment and supplies that are needed to the Executive Director.
  • Report faulty equipment and maintenance issues to Executive Director.
  • Review the menus, recipes and groceries before preparing the meals.
  • Follow PSLG standardized menus and recipes and special diet orders.
  • Check the special diet board to ensure that all residents are correctly served.
  • Serve food with attention to portion control.
  • Ensure that the kitchen is cleaned daily and scheduled cleaning functions are performed.
  • Ensure that all food service is presented in an attractive, gracious and timely manner.
  • To act at all times in a professional manner to visitors, staff and residents in the community.
  • Attendance on the job as scheduled.
  • Other duties as assigned for the successful operation of the community.

Qualifications

  • Must be a minimum of 18 years old
  • Must have had at least two years experience as a cook in a large scale cooking operation, preferably in a supervisory capacity. Experience working with older adults preferred.
  • Must possess leadership abilities as well as work within a team.
  • Must be able to follow PSLG recipes and menus.
  • Successful completion of drug screening.
  • Must obtain a satisfactory criminal record check per State guidelines.
  • Must have received a tuberculosis screening and physical examination within twelve months prior to employment (or as State Guidelines Require) to assure that the employee is free of diseases communicable within the scope of employment and physically qualified to work

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to work under stress and in emergency situations.
  • Must be able to work under conditions which require sitting, standing, walking, reaching, pulling, pushing, lifting, and grasping with risk of environmental exposure to communicable disease.
  • Must be able to effectively convey instructions and information to residents and staff members.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with other staff members, referral sources, resi-dents and their families and physicians.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
