The Back-Up Scan Coordinator computes, classifies, and records numerical data to keep Store financial records complete. This position perform any combination of routine calculating, posting, and verifying duties to obtain primary financial data for use in maintaining accounting records. This position also checks the accuracy of figures, calculations, and postings pertaining to business transactions recorded by other workers. 

Essential Functions

  • Put price information on price or shelf tags using scanner gun
  • Compare printed price tickets with entries on purchase orders to verify accuracy and notify supervisor of discrepancies
  • Keep records of production, returned goods, and related transactions
  • Indicate item size, style, color, and inspection results on tags, tickets, and labels, using rubber stamp or writing instrument
  • Verify weekly ad and promotional price accuracy
  • Work closely with front end cashiers, supervisors regarding scan accuracy
  • Maintain knowledge of weekly ad items
  • Give customers direction of product location throughout the store
  • Check for any price / item updates from the corporate office and make updates as needed
  • Make signs as needed
  • Research discrepancies and notify Help Desk with pricing exceptions
  • Verify new items for price accuracy and “not on files”
  • Promote 100% scan accuracy program
  • Act as liaison with Help Desk for computer or register related issues
  • Other related duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • High School diploma or equivalent, including courses in bookkeeping, and 1-2 years of experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or clerical assignments involving advanced record keeping; or an acceptable combination of education and experience
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from Store management, Cashiers, coworkers, and others
  • Requires a high degree of confidentiality
  • Strong work ethic, including reliability and punctuality
  • Ability to understand and follow complex oral and written instructions and technical terminology consistent with the duties of this position
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
  • Ability to effectively organize, plan, and prioritize work
  • Must be able to work as part of a team and independently
  • Ability to work varied hours/days as business dictates

Physical Requirements

The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by a team member to successfully perform the essential functions of this position or that a team member encounters while performing the essential functions of this position.   • Requires vertically/horizontally transferring boxes weighing up to 17 lbs., from 1” to 34”, up to a distance of 8 feet for up to 1 hour
  • Will use a cart to horizontally transfer supplies requiring a force up to 15 lbs., for a distance up to 300 feet for up to 100 hours
  • Coupling forces up to 10 lbs. for up to 100 hours required for scan gun; 7 lbs. and 30 hours for staple gun
  • Must use a 2 step stool for up to 20 steps per hour
  • Repetitive crouching/kneeling/squatting to access a point 6 inches from the ground for up to 50 hours will be necessary
  • Will work inside controlled temperatures
  • Vision required for reading and setting signs, stapling, scanning, and using a computer to activate new pricing
  • Walking up to 4 miles per 8 hours is expected
