Dietary Aide (Kitchen Helpers / Dishwashers)

Role:

Day to day responsibility for washing dishes, sanitizing dishes, carts, and tables, daily food prep for following shift, assist in serving of patients by running tray line w/cooks, act as cashier and/or food server for cafeteria, daily cleaning and general cleaning as assigned by Cook, Supervisor, or EVS Manager. In addition, the Dietary Aide will also:

* Follow written job flow on daily basis to ensure cleanliness and sanitation of all parts of kitchen
* Remove trash and/or cardboard to exterior of building
* Share expertise with coworkers both formally and informally
* Ability to constantly lift, pull, carry, and/or push objects weighing up to 55 pounds
* Ability to stand, kneel, walk, climb, crouch or bend for long periods of time
* Employee carries out detailed instructions for several tasks. Guidance and instruction is always available to the incumbent and prior permission is required before changing the methods or steps used in the job's work.
* Perform assigned dietary cleaning duties to various types of surfaces, floors, equipment to include, but not limited to, vinyl composition tile, ceramic tile, quarry tile, concrete, terrazzo, hardwood flooring, rubber, carpet, painted wall surfaces, wall hangings, linens and towels, beds and all components thereof, stainless steel and tables, plastic and metal carts, and all kitchen equipment.
* Determine needed supplies and equipment, and relate that need to immediate Supervisor
* Handle all cash according to Company policy and procedure, reporting any shortages or overages to Dietary Coordinator or EVS Manager immediately
* Prepare following day's meal prep according to instruction from cook on daily basis
* Prepare, cook, and serve all cafe meals to customers at the dinner meal
* Turn off all equipment and document accordingly at the end of each night
* Account for equipment and materials assigned
* Assist in training new employees for dietary department
* Responsible for cleaning all equipment used thoroughly after each use
* Skill in the use of and care for dietary equipment including but not limited to convection oven, steam kettle, large mixer, robot coupe, blenders, dish machine, etc.
* Proper loading of offsite food prep into transport containers
* Proper transportation of food to offsite serving locations including unloading and serving according to all regulations and policy, practices
* Driving, delivering of food to offsite food service areas to include but not limited to offsite catering events
* Pickup supplies needed for dept. at offsite purchasing locations such as Publix, Sam's Club, supermarkets, equipment vendors, etc.
* Report any injuries, both personal and witnessed, immediately to the Supervisor
* All other duties as assigned, by management

Qualifications:

* Prior related experience in hospital, hospice house, nursing home, and/or general dietary aide experience as deemed necessary by the EVS Manager for the position
* Must possess technical proficiencies in dietary aide functions
* Strong interpersonal skills
* Working knowledge of food service industry standards & regulations
* A high school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) is preferred
* Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language conversationally
* Valid FL driver's license and appropriate insurance coverage
* Applicable dietary aide experience as determined by the EVS Manager
* Ability to keep simple records
* Ability to follow simple step-by-step instructions
* Ability working with detergents and other cleaning chemicals used for custodial work without adverse reactions
