This position is a key member of the UHC Vision Medical Expense Accounting Team and a successful candidate will have a high degree of curiosity and be excited by uncharted processes and challenges. The UHC Vision business is vertically integrated and comprised of insurance services, manufacturing and retail services profit centers.


 


The person in this role will be responsible for the accounting for medical expense transactions across 50+ entities, including eliminations and consolidation.


 


Primary Responsibilities:



  • Income statement analysis, including explanations for variance to forecast
  • Balance Sheet account analysis and reconciliation. Research and resolve variances
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of accounting policies and internal controls
  • Prepare and review complex transactions such as eliminations and consolidations
  • Month-end close duties as related to general accounting
  • Review financial activity to assess accuracy of financial statements
  • Foster relationships across multiple functional areas

Requirements

Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or equivalent
  • 2+ years of professional accounting experience
  • Solid understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and financial statements
  • Intermediate level of proficiency with MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Understanding of accounting systems, and ability to trace transactions through multiple systems

Preferred Qualifications:



  • Insurance Industry Experience
  • Public Accounting Experience
  • MS Access query and report writing or other report writing tool experience
  • Experience with Month End Closing and preparation of financial statements
  • Ability to mine and manage large quantities of data, as well as understand database structures, exposure to using ODBC connections for data retrieval
  • Experience and proven ability to succeed in an ERP environment
