The Director, Learning Development is responsible for the design and delivery of learning programs and events supporting client based assisted selling and training teams including the design, development, and implementation of both online (e-learning) and live classroom/virtual training. Provide thought leadership and learning strategy to senior leadership on training and performance development opportunities across the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the learning & development team of nine+ associates in accordance with organizational policies and goals, including hiring, training, evaluations, promoting, motivating, taking corrective action, and terminating employees as required.
  • Develop, maintain, market, and continuously improve standards and practices for all training, documentation, and E-Learning/online programming activities across the organization and within client team.
  • Provide direction in the design and development of learning projects as well as entire training programs, including structure, content and delivery methods used by the Learning Development team serving as project manager.
  • Manage relationships with executives, business partners, customers, clients and vendors to achieve exceptional customer service, determine best practices and deliver high quality solutions aligned with expectations and goals.
  • Ensure the quality and ROI of training programs through effective needs assessments, course design, qualified instructors, post training evaluation and learning reinforcement strategies.
  • Align and manage monthly budgetary allocations and strategic tasks related to the management of the Learning Development department.

Requirements

  • 10 years related work experience in training and development.
  • 2 years supervisory experience.
  • Effective communication, presentation, and facilitation skills.
  • Effective managerial and supervisory skills.
  • Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills; attention to detail.
  • Strong computer skills and ability to work with MS Office: Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook.
  • Strong knowledge of technical software concepts and an ability to quickly understand product functionality in the context of its business application.
  • Strong knowledge of rapid eLearning development tools such as Articulate, Storyline, and Captivate.
  • Demonstrated experience with writing curriculum and developing training materials.
  • Ability to write and edit content, instructional text, audio scripts, and video scripts and to design interactive and engaging learning content.
  • Experience using and performing administrator functions in a learning management system.
  • Ability to research industry trends and innovations related to learning development.
  • Ability and willingness to perform as a team member on multiple projects simultaneously and work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment with high expectations for quality.
  • Strong organizational skills to effectively assist in the management of multiple projects from inception to completion, adhering to deadlines, within budget and with high quality.
  • Self starter; highly motivated; able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to analyze information and use deductive reasoning.
  • Proven ability to provide excellent customer service, and work with multiple levels of the organization from senior management to first level associates.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence outcomes without hierarchical authority.
  • Strong track record of effectively driving learning and development initiatives to support key business priorities.
  • Strong knowledge of adult learning theory and practice, including development, implementation, and measurement of culture change.
  • Flexibility to travel and work weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed.
