Job Responsibilities:


  • Provide strategic planning, direction and leadership in direct support of UnitedHealthcare Employer & Individual integrated medical & pharmacy growth and retention initiatives for existing OptumRx integrated accounts as well as certain standalone pharmacy clients where UnitedHealthcare Employer & Individual segments have an existing or targeted relationship.

  • Work closely with the Pharmacy Regional Account Executives, OptumRx Regional Sales Directors, the health plan leadership and the strategic client executives in assigned region to provide OptumRx subject matter expertise and support in achieving desired growth and retention results.

  • Candidate must possess a thorough understanding of the commercial healthcare market place and key sales drivers in order to align our pharmacy value proposition to solve their key business challenges

  • Take lead role in pharmacy strategy development for existing OptumRx integrated pharmacy clients to achieve retention, profitability and satisfaction objectives as set by UnitedHealthcare.

  • Accountable for directly managing assigned stand-alone pharmacy clients and achieving retention, profitability and client satisfaction objectives as set by OptumRx.

  • Collaborate with Pharmacy Regional Account Executives and OptumRx Regional Sales Directors to define customer needs to enable company to differentiate and position for growth and retention.

  • In conjunction with the Pharmacy Regional Account Executives and OptumRx Regional Sales Directors, deliver integrated and stand-alone pharmacy value proposition and related training, program updates for UHCE&I leadership, account management teams, and matrix partners including underwriting and other operational partners as needed.

  • Accountable for all aspects of the client lifecycle including collaborating with the Pharmacy Regional Account Executives and OptumRx Regional Sales Directors who lead during the sales process for new accounts and new pharmacy business for an existing UHC account, leading implementation, overseeing the overall client experience for ongoing service support, business reviews/consultations, renewals.

  • Directly accountable for stand-alone clients and accountable to the UHC account management team for integrated business with OptumRx.

  • Understand the competitive landscape and effectively position pharmacy management programs, participating as account management lead for pharmacy in best and final meetings, industry forums, broker and consultant meetings.

  • Organize internal resources as necessary to support pharmacy growth and retention for existing clients including engaging the OptumRx Regional Sales Director for complex competitive renewals.

  • Channel customer needs and expectations into the larger organization's priorities initiatives and services.

  • Strategic Vision - Understands and communicates the company's long term and short term value proposition to achieve the desired goals of pharmacy management.

  • Strategic Thinking - Implements effective pharmacy strategy and goals which are aligned with and supportive of those of the company and our customers.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:



  • HIgh school diploma or equivalency

  • 5+ years experience using communications and interpersonal skills (internal/external)

  • 5+ years experience working in partnership with underwriting and finance

  • 5+ years experience with account management ensuring that existing clients are satisfied with and recognize the value of the solutions they currently use and as a result renew their existing relationships and actively engage in discussions regarding the use of additional solutions

  • 5+ years experience establishing effective long-term relationships with assigned clients in order to gain understanding of their business objectives, drivers, and needs and to create an easy avenue for customers to communicate and work with Pharmacy

  • 5+ years experience consulting with clients to ensure they are utilizing UnitedHealth Pharmaceutical Solutions(UHPS) to their greatest potential, understand all of the tools, benefits, programs, value propositions and are aware of all UHPS capabilities

  • 5 + years of experience working with understanding of pharmacy financials and pricing coupled with the ability to negotiate using the data

  • Previous experience and proven ability to retain and sell business

  • Sales insurance license must be maintained as required by state law

  • Willingness to travel as required (25-35%)

Preferred Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree or 4+ years equivalent experience in healthcare sales/account management field

  • 5+ years of account management/sales experience in the PBM/RX industry
