A successful Staff Accountant will have the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; and/or 3 to 5 years of related work experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of accounting, business theory, and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Ability to apply inductive reasoning in problem assessment and resolution; maintain knowledge of spreadsheets, mathematical calculations and formulas associated with these calculations; prepare and recommend sound business practices; and understand specialization area’s impact on larger organizational activities.
  • Ability to do ten key by touch and achieve related production and performance standards.
  • Ability to excel with time constraints and rapid turnaround situations.
  • Strive to achieve effective performance within the team, working for the overall success of the company.

The GL group is looking for a highly motivated Staff Accountant. 

Primary responsibilities of the Staff Accountant fall into the following categories:

  • Assist in preparation for monthly close process, working to ensure that management has adequate and accurate information.
  • Demonstrate technology skills with continuous expansion of knowledge as it relates to software applications.
  • Collaborate with Manager in establishing personal performance and production goals, taking initiative in identifying specific development tasks for problem resolution and analyses within specialization area.
  • Adhere to departmental internal controls, escalating to management knowledge of variances from established work protocol.
  • Comply with all company policies and departmental procedures, ensuring honest and ethical conduct at all times.
  • Update SOX process documentation quarterly as required, complete quarterly SPOQ questionnaires as required and perform/monitor required SOX controls as described in COSO documentation.
