Discovers Corporate Finance Department has an open position that focuses on coordinating and enhancing Discovers profitability reporting environment. At the core of this function are two primary deliverables – business specific Management Reporting, and detailed customer profitability reporting.

Management Reporting involves the acquisition and presentation of financial information in a fully integrated P&L view, for each of our core businesses. This GL centric exercise leverages cost center allocations, by grouping results in a fashion that provide a consistent and logical view of each business’ profitability. Through this data, senior management is able to evaluate the performance of our business units from which critical decisions are made.

Customer Profitability Reporting focuses on the assignment of revenues and expenses at the customer level in order to provide a detailed profitability profile for each of our customers. To accomplish this, Finance has responsibility for implementing processes to track and assign all revenue transactions down to the individual account. Similarly, based on modeled resource usage, expense allocation detail is derived and applied to each customer profile. Ultimately, the end result of this process is the creation of a database that is sourced by users throughout the organization to analyze the profitability of marketing campaigns, investment strategies, and risk behavior segments.

The ideal candidate will possess the skills needed to translate current business dynamics into allocation rules to competently maintain and update the systems driving our results. Additionally, key to managing this modeled environment is the ability to acquire financial and statistical data directly from Teradata and Essbase. In essence, the execution of proven financial, analytical, and systems capabilities are critical prerequisites for this job.

Responsibilities:
- Run the monthly forecast and actual allocation processes (creation of business P&Ls)
- Coordinate the process of acquiring and loading cost center allocation percentages
- Direct IT to implement Business requirements in support of reporting needs
- Coordinate ongoing maintenance and enhancements with the Finance Systems group
- Review profitability metrics to ensure reported results are consistent with expectations
- Periodically coordinate expense reviews to ensure the accuracy of allocation drivers
- Prioritize concurrent projects and manage project deadlines
- Create reports to facilitate control checks, and to support data inquiries
- Develop and maintain allocation scripts for our Oracle platform
- Provide technical support to other Finance Essbase users on an as needed basis
- Independent investigation, analysis and resolution of system processing anomalies

Qualifications

- Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Two to five years of analytic experience in the financial services industry
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A high competency level with Essbase (ability to write Essbase scripts is a plus).
- A high degree of proficiency in Excel (complex functions, pivot tables, macros)
- Excellent communication (oral and written), interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Team orientation with a willingness to support user community.
- Self-starter with the ability to take concepts and develop detailed execution plans
- Strong problem solving and project management skills.
- Ability to navigate a general ledger system and interpret account detail
- Experience with SAS/SQL.
