Position Summary:

Assist the Pharmacist in reaching sales and profit goals established for the department, and monitor all established quality assurance standards. Essential Job Functions:
  • Greet customers promptly and gather necessary patient and insurance information.
  • Create an environment that enables customers to feel welcome, important and appreciated by answering questions regarding products sold within the department and throughout the store.
  • Gain and maintain knowledge of products sold within the department and be able to respond to questions and make suggestions about products.
  • Process prescription requests, review patient profiles, process refill requests, dispense medications, and assist pharmacist in any manner necessary to perform his/her duties and meet customer's expectations.
  • Process Immunizations and prepare necessary vaccines for pharmacist's administration.
  • File and retrieve Pharmacy records
  • Order medications from preferred suppliers, check them in, placed them on the shelves and rotate inventory to reduce pharmacy loss due to expired meds.
  • Order Pharmacy supplies.
  • Record and maintain required temperature logs for pharmacy refrigerator and freezer.
  • Follow proper cash handling policies and report any discrepancies to his/her supervisor.
  • Keep pharmacy in a clean and sanitary status.
  • Maintain pharmacy shelves by checking for out of date medications and rotating the stock.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Responsible for processing unclaimed prescriptions and perform WIB at least twice a week.
  • Research and follow up on third party vendor billing problems and assist in insurance audits.
  • Responsible for properly inspecting the blood pressure machine and notifying the appropriate people of any problems and repairs.
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.
Minimum Position Qualifications:
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • State approved Pharmacy Technician license
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to handle stressful situations and being able to work expeditiously to meet customer's expectations.
  • Effective communication skills
  • Knowledge of basic math (counting, addition, and subtraction)
  • Ability to preserve confidential information
  • Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds occasionally and stand and walk for the entire shift up to 12 hours a day.
  • Must be available and willing to work some weekends and holidays and be able to cover shifts outside of normal schedule in emergencies.
Desired Previous Job Experience:
  • High School education or equivalent preferred
  • Pharmacy experience
  • Retail experience
