TAX MANAGER
As Tax Manager you will lead and manage a group of experienced accounting and tax personnel in order to deliver quality work and high level client service to our international clients.
In this position, you will serve as trusted advisor to our clients aiming at maximizing client engagement
and satisfaction.
Duties and Responsibilities
Review and prepare federal and state income tax returns for individuals, businesses and real estate, including the most complex.
Approves and signs all returns with the exception of those dealing with specialized issues that require the expertise of a partner/reviewer.
Acts as a resource for account managers, tax associates, senior tax associates, tax managers and partners. Research the implications of tax laws and advise clients on tax related issues.
Prepares tax planning and estimates and becomes involved in planning for more complex clients
Assists accounting and business development staff members in client meetings
Manage, develop, and mentor staff/managers on projects and assess performance through formal periodic reviews and informal feedback.
Develops and models an understanding of firm core values, mission and vision.
Analyzes IRS notices and drafts responses
Reviews IRS notice responses prepared by other tax personnel
Prepares research memoranda, written correspondence/guidance, and other documents for submission to the IRS or Represents clients before the IRS
May have billing responsibility including discussing fees with clients
Contributes to the client service team by producing quality work with quick turnaround and attentive service.
Establishes good working relationships with all partners and firm employees
Writes articles and makes presentations to internal staff and external customers and prospect.
Demonstrates initiative, creativity, and imagination in approaching work
Facilitates in-house tax training
Develops and maintains an expertise in the taxation area
Keeps all staff in the firm informed of changes and developments in the taxation area
Experience
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in accounting or other related program. Advanced degree (law or master’s in taxation) or enrollment in an advanced degree program.
CPA license Preferred
Prior experience in public accounting and tax
Strong accounting and analytical skills
Research proficiency
Strong computer skills: proficiency preferred, but not required in Thompson Reuters and BNA
Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
Well-rounded in dealing with high net worth individuals and businesses
Bi-lingual, Portuguese preferred
