Primary Responsibilities:



  • Analyze health care claims and authorization data to establish and evaluate baseline performance measures and trend, size potential operational and clinical opportunities, measure ongoing Company performance vs. target, and identify and model additional product/service expansion opportunities

  • Design, implement, maintain and enhance data workflows and modeling, analytical processes, and reporting products that support company and client operations and program performance and opportunity assessment

  • Serve as analytic contact/resource for external business partners to support ongoing data exchange, analysis, reporting and interpretation of performance results; establish and maintain effective ongoing client relationships

  • Interface and engage all functional departments (e.g., clinical, claims, network, operations, etc.) within the Company in the development of analytic models and reporting and in the interpretation of results

  • Maintain highest standards of data integrity and quality throughout the department's data collection-to-reporting pipeline

  • Implement and support new technologies and processes to enhance the analytical/reporting performance of the department and the Company as a whole in the service of its clients

Requirements

Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in a quantitative, finance, technical or health care analytics related discipline or equivalent experience

  • Hands-on experience with handling and analyzing large data sets (e.g., over 1 million records) including ETL, preferably with healthcare claims and other related healthcare data

  • Proven analytical skills particularly with comprehensive, multi-level drill-down assessment of key health care utilization and financial performance measures by line-of-business, geography, provider type, product, clinical condition, service type, etc.

  • Demonstrated clinical analytic ability within a managed health care environment, (e.g., working with analysis of diagnostic case-mix, patient-based episode of care grouping and analysis, provider profiling and/or site-of-service analyses, etc.)

  • Exceptional computing skills, particularly in relational database programming, including SQL Server, MS product suite, etc.

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills across all levels of the organization with high level of clarity, accuracy and attention to detail

  • Compelling interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills; strong personal initiative and accountability as well as ability to work independently

  • Experience with MS Office Suite (MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Visio)

  • Proficiency with MS Access, SQL Server 2000, SQL Server 2005/2008,

Preferred Qualifications:



  • Master's degree

  • Data analytics and reporting experience in a health insurance or health care management or delivery organization

  • Statistical software experience

  • SAS experience
