The Doubletree by Hilton Newark has immediate openings for part time cooks. Ideal candidates have flexible availability, excellent customer service skills and the desire to provide an exceptional experience for our guests.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

 

  • Ability to stand for long hours at the time.
  • Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly.
  • Must maintain composure and objectivity under pressure.
  • Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary.
  • Must be effective at listening to, understanding and clarifying concerns and issues raised by team members and guests.
  • Clean food preparation areas, cooking surfaces, and utensils.
  • Cook the exact number of items ordered by each customer, working on several different orders simultaneously.
  • Maintain sanitation, health, and safety standards in work areas.
  • Measure ingredients required for specific food items being prepared.
  • Mix ingredients such as pancake or waffle batters.
  • Operate large-volume cooking equipment such as grills, deep-fat fryers, or griddles.
  • Pre-cook items such as bacon, in order to prepare for later use.
  • Read food order slips or receive verbal instructions as to food required by patron, and prepare and cook food according to instructions.
  • Verify that prepared food meets requirements for quality and quantity.
  • Wash, cut, and prepare foods designated for cooking.
  • Clean, stock, and restock workstations and display cases.
  • Sweep and mop coolers daily.
  • Sweep Dry Storage.
  • Receive all deliveries, check in to ensure proper products where ordered.
  • Label and date all items.
  • Cleaning of the Employee meal cart.
  • Filtering and cleaning of the deep fryer
  • Maintains the walk-in coolers for organization and freshness.
  • Notifies Chefs in advance of all expected shortages.
  • Adheres to state and local health and safety regulations.
  • Maintains the highest sanitary standards.
  • Maintains neat professional appearance.
  • Maintains safety and security in work station.
  • Aids and assist other areas of the kitchen as needed.

 

Our compensation package includes an $10.75 hourly wage, dining and travel discounts, special offers from our business partners, and discount programs for selected cell phone providers.
