Key Responsibilities

Position is responsible for color matching (accutint and DPG), and formulation filing for all of the PPG PMC lines. Requires ability to match preexisting RAL, Fed Standard, PPG or competitors fan decks as well as any new custom color swatches received from the customer under extreme time restraints. Also provides assistance to manufacturing and color matching being done by our DC and dealer distribution network. Directly impacts business unit as well as others that business units that sell our products.

  • With the assistance of the supervisor or designated color technician develop color formulas which include making all adjustments necessary to meet customer requirements.
  • Possess math skills necessary to calculate percentage and ratios to make adjustments when needed.
  • Maintain all equipment in the lab to maintain integrity of colors being created.
  • Be familiar with the concept of Quality Control testing. Learn Q.C. Technician duties as needed.
  • Make draw downs of colors for customer approval / warehouse standard chips while retaining chips of all color work completed in files for the future. Pull standards as needed.
  • Be able to work overtime and flexible hours as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Experience and Education

Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
Pass a color deficiency exam and have a good color aptitude.

Functional and Technical Skills

EHS Training Requirements – Emergency Response, Hazardous Waste, Fire Safety, Industrial Ergonomics, PPE, Walking and Working Surfaces.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Basic computer skills including Microsoft Word and Excel.
Possessing one to three years of industrial technical color experience and advanced academic training in science and/or mathematics would be a plus but not a requirement.
