Individuals joining the Operations Leadership Internship program will work on helping to provide answers to strategic business challenges that Discover faces. The program consists of one week paid lean training in Discovers headquarters just outside of Chicago, IL followed by full time summer position located at the New Castle Operations center. The assignment will include data analysis, project management, process mapping, and leadership opportunities. Upon successful completion of the 3 month program, participants will be able to conduct process reviews and mapping across lines of business to assess process effectiveness and risk mitigation activities. Additionally, they will perform business control testing of critical processes to evaluate existing controls and identify areas of opportunity where gaps may exist related to regulatory risks.

This internship will include analytical assignments in support of business strategy and policy development, project management assignments in support of implementing key business initiatives, process management assignments managing key business processes,and supporting the management and supervisory functions with a team. Special projects, including participation on departmental committees may also be assigned.

Qualifications

Currently enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a 4 year degree (Junior or Senior designation desired)
Course work completed in progress towards a Bachelors degree in an analytical field (e.g., Economics, Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering, Operations Research, Mathematics, Science).
GPA 3.0 or greater.
Strong financial and analytical aptitude.

Superior project management skills.
Proven problem-solving abilities.
Proficiency in cross-functional communication and relationships.
Exhibition of creativity and innovation.
Well-rounded experiences, prior work experience desired.
Exceptional technical ability with all Microsoft Products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint & Access).
