We, at Optum Technology, are looking to hire a Pega Lead Business Architect to become a member of a centralized Business Process Management (BPM) Center of Excellence. The ideal candidate must have experience in gathering requirements as well as designing and implementing BPM systems on a large scale while applying standard practices to the solution development process from project definition through operational rollout. The existing team is made up of a strong set of BPM and Pega professionals with a very diverse set of architecture skills. Team members are assigned to work with specific business and IT project teams, helping them to understand the proper approach to delivering a successful BPM implementation.

The Pega Lead Business Architect will work in one of our main IT hubs. In this exciting position you will be responsible for the development, communication and implementation of the organization's technology architecture and applications plan, including the components required to support it and in the integration of corporate and business architecture and applications.

 


The primary function of this position is to provide cross-segment/cross domain BPM (Business Process Management) and BRE (Business Rules Engine) guidance, enablement, and leadership that support the definition, design, and implementation of initiatives based on common delivery practices and standards using agile methodologies for complex and/or multiple projects.


 


 



Primary Responsibilities:



  • You will use stellar communication skills to collaborate with the business to understand/influence business requirements
  • You will demonstrate understanding of cross-functional/cross-domain requirements and impact
  • You will maintain knowledge of current and emerging technologies/products/trends related to architectural solutions
  • You will ensure alignment of solutions with business and IT goals/objectives
  • You will identify and quantify scope and impact of business changes on systems
  • You will facilitate/lead/participate in identification of solution options and features
  • You will communicate solution options to business owners/stakeholders (e.g. architecture reviews)
  • You will incorporate software and system architecture (e.g. infrastructure, network) into conceptual designs
  • You will ensure alignment with enterprise technology standards (e.g. solution patterns, application frameworks, technology roadmaps, capital plans)
  • You will identify gaps between established standards and proposed solutions, and follow the exception/waiver process as needed
  • You will maintain awareness of current technology assets and the capability of each
  • You will understand and adhere to architecture Governance framework
  • You will deliver all project deliverables on scope, on time and on budget
  • Provide strategic thinking, solutions and roadmaps while driving enterprise recommendations and ensuring adherence to established standards and practices including the development of standards and practices where they may not yet exist
  • Provides ownership for all requirement and solution definition artifacts throughout the project lifecycle
  • Serves as a BPM and Pega leader/mentor for peers across lines of business on best practices
  • Provides stewardship and governance for BPM and Pega communities of practice
  • Facilitates open communication and fact-based decision making
  • Reviews the work of others, providing guidance, mentoring and support
  • Facilitates change and process improvement within software development and business organizations
  • Develops innovative approaches to challenging and complex assignments
  • Anticipates customer needs and proactively develops solutions to meet them
  • Serves as a key knowledgeable resource on complex and/or critical issues
  • Solves complex problems and develops innovative solutions through complex conceptual analyses
  • Research, identify, and recommend industry best practices for solving business problems
  • Forecasts and plans resource requirements
  • Authorizes deviations from standards
  • Lead functional teams or projects
  • Motivates and inspires other team members


Requirements

Required Qualifications:



  • A minimum of 3+ years of Pega and Business Process Management (BPM) experience. Certified Pega Business Architect (CBA or CSA would be ideal)
  • A minimum of 8 years experience in working with a variety of software design and development environments
  • Consultative and collaborative team focus with abilities such as strong listening, oral and written communication skills required
  • Professional services “client” consulting style is required for success in this role
  • Excellent verbal skills and ability to communicate smoothly and professionally to groups of non-IT Business customers is essential
  • Experience leading the collaboration of business and IT to evaluate business goals, identify business problems and propose solutions
  • Proven planning and project management skills expected
  • Experience facilitating discussions for groups of 10 or more individuals from all levels of the organization, in person or over the phone
  • Change management, process improvement, and organizational effectiveness skills expected
  • Experience supporting high-volume transaction processing systems supporting the operational workflows of business partners expected

Preferred Qualifications:



  • Requirements and process modeling experience using UML and BPMN modeling
  • Familiarity with iterative and Agile Methodologies such as RUP and Scrum 
  • Experience with Pega Health Care frameworks and reference architectures
